Lightning Round Reviews #28: Lake Providence Lodge Round-Up (P-Z)!

I'm back with part 2 of my Lake Providence Lodge wax melts round-up! Come and take a look!

Peppermint ~ Crisp, refreshing and strong! A true peppermint.

Overall Rating: 10/10; insane throw. Perfect and crisp, just like the essential oil. Must be a fan of true peppermint scents as this is the only scent to be had. Incredible nighttime melt. Smells SO FREAKING GOOD. Cut this baby in half for longevity. Lasts many, many hours. Clean, but not astringent in a cleaner way. Brilliant peppermint scent!!!

Pistachio Punch ~ A fruity and sweet blend of pistachios, ripe red cherries, juicy oranges and fresh pineapple.

Overall Rating: 7/10; super fruity melody! Pineapple and pistachio go good together. Melted this in the bathroom and it lasted about 5-6 hours. Lingered even after it was gone in the back bedroom. You need to love tropical scents as well as pistachio. Almost wonder how this would be with serendipity!

Pomegranate Cider ~ Our Pomegranate warmed up a bit with fresh pressed apples and a little spice.

Overall Rating: 8/10; underrated spicy fruit scent. Not like apple at all, more dark and mysterious. Spicy, but not too terribly spicy as it is muted slightly by the pomegranate. Also, an underrated fruit to begin with. Lasted 6 hours in the bedroom with strong throw.

Pumpkin Butter ~ Made from scratch apple butter blended with pumpkin spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and warm vanilla.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; much lighter on the spices than I had anticipated, I think they are relegated to a background note here since the apple butter and pumpkin are the starts. Sort of buttery, even though it's not a butter scent? Fruity, but also a bit more depth to it. Not  my favorite melt. Lasted 4 hours before I pulled it.

Rainbow Sherbet ~ This smells just like the sherbet mom served us that came out of the square ice cream box. Raspberry, lemon, lime and orange blended with a touch of our Strawberry makes this the perfect fruity sherbet.

Overall Rating: 7/10; crazy accurate to the frozen treat. Strong, fruity, in your face scent. Raspberry and citrus to the max. Great for a summers day! Lasted 7 hours in the bedroom. I should have cut this one in half because it would have been a good "whole house" scent if I had distributed it between 2 warmers. Liked this, but not a repurchase.

Rhubarb ~ Crisp and tart. This is a slightly sweet, but earthy scent. Rhubarb, freshly picked from the garden.

Overall Rating: 7/10; being the only late 20-something who likes rhubarb, I can attest it is truly the most underrated vegetable/fruit out there. Mix this with sugar and cinnamon in a pie? OOhhhhh baby! So good. It's an acquired taste, so lots of people probably won't like this scent because, like figs, this is a sweet-fruity scent, but is earthy, too. I like this one. It's got a medium-high throw for the bedroom. Could have used some spice, for my taste.

Sparkling Lemonade ~ Ice cold lemonade with a touch of fizzy citrus soda added.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; very sparkly, don't believe me? Smell it for yourself. It's insanely bubbly. Also, the lemon note is great, not astringent or cleaner-y like others. Our house smelled excellent for the duration of this melt, but this scent did get a little tedious. Lasted 6 hours. Liked this, but not a repurchase.

Strawberry ~ Smells like a big bowl of ripe strawberries that have been sliced and sugared. Very fresh and fruity!

Overall Rating: 8/10; surprisingly wonderful! Sweet, fruity, just a teensy weensy bit candied. I loved this scent!! Melted this in the bathroom and it made the house smell excellent. I wish I had another one of these and a toasted marshmallow to melt these together. Lasted 8.5 hours.

Summer Fruit Salad ~ Sugar sprinkled oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, melon, peaches and kiwi.

Overall Rating: 8/10; another amazing fruit scent! This is a melange of fruits to the point where you can see them in your head as you're melting this. So strong. In your face with scent. Melony. Not enough kiwi scents in wax! Lasted 6 hours. Liked this, but not a repurchase.

The Cabin ~ A wonderful scent of cozy and warm spices including allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Like Fall at the Lodge curled up under a quilt by the stone fireplace.

Overall Rating: 8/10; as you'll notice, most of the LPL wax tarts have high reviews. This is not a coincidence because they are such a consistently outrageously excellent vendor. The Cabin is probably my second favorite spicy scent from LPL: appley, spicy, all it needs is a cup of cocoa and some snowflakes! Awesome throw, smells great, repurchase for sure.

Toasted Vanilla Bean ~ Fresh vanilla beans warmed with toasted marshmallow and caramel.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; a great toasted vanilla bean scent! Creamy, rich, sweet, only slightly toasted to me. The bedroom smelled really nice melting this. Nothing I should have cut in half. Decent medium-strong throw.

Lightning Round Reviews #27: Lake Providence Lodge Round-Up (A-O)!

I haven't done a Lightning Round Reviews post since January, so let's rectify this situation! Today, I am featuring some older melts from Lake Providence Lodge letters A-O. The rest will be up another day!! Note: the date on these tarts is the date I received them in the mail, but they have been melted throughout the last year with notes included in my notebook!

Apple Cinnamon ~ Simple and delicious cinnamon dusted apple slices. There is no crust or bakery, just apples and cinnamon.

Overall Rating: 6/10; middle of the road apple cinnamon scent, nothing extreme, but not bad, just your average cinnamon apple blend.

Apple Pie ~ Just like a warm from the oven baked apple pie. You will smell it all-apples, spices and crust.

Apple Spice ~ Perfectly ripe apples tossed with warm spices.

Cider Lake ~ Spiced and sweet cider blended with sugary caramel.

Overall Rating: 8/10; you have to love caramel to like this one. I wasn't bothered by it as much here as I usually am with caramel scents, so this was nice, but it is a very authentic caramel apple scent. Sweet, juicy apples, very strong!

Country Cottage ~ Sweet cinnamon blended with vanilla, caramel, a touch of cider and maple syrup.

Overall Rating: 10/10; rivals my beloved The Lodge's Kitchen, but each are different in their own way. It is sweet and spicy together in a perfect dance of fallness.

Cranberry Lime ~ Sweet and tart cranberries blended with a squeeze of lime juice.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; heavy lime meets sweet cranberry with a bit of tartness in there, too. Quite pungent on the citrus front, but I loved it. Really exceeded my expectations.

Cranberry Spice ~ Cinnamon and spice soaked sweet cranberries.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; sort of reminds me of a craft store, but in a non offensive way. Very spicy, sweet and mildly tart, if I didn't know this was cranberry, I might not have known because it was in the bathroom and I wasn't paying much attention to it until I walked by the room.

Cupcake ~ Cupcakes made with white cake and buttercream frosting.

Overall Rating: 7/10; this smelled sooooooooooooo good on cold sniff, I was a bit let down by its final product. Most bakery lover will love this either way, but to me, it was a bit *too* bakery. Still, the buttercream frosting scent was excellent mixed in with this!

Iced Pumpkin Cookie ~ Vanilla sugar cookie combined with fresh pumpkin and apple, hints of cinnamon and clove.

Lime Slices ~ Tart and sweet. A delicious, clean lime scent!

Overall Rating: 7/10; quite a strong lime scent, and yes, it does manage to smell a bit clean! You have to love lime for this one as there are no other notes, but it's insane how accurate LPL's scents are.

Melted Marshmallow ~ Lightly warmed, sugar-y marshmallows. A delicious and rich vanilla scent.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10; an amaaaaaaaaaaaazing marshmallow scent, this scent shot was dripping with ooey gooey goodness. Sweet, creamy, this would be an excellent blender. YUM!!!

Mulberry Spice ~ Warmed mulberries, steeped in syrupy brown sugar and cinnamon just waiting to become a cobbler.

Overall Rating: 10/10; PERFECTION. AMAZING. WONDERFUL. Strong! I melted this in the bathroom and smelled it in the bedroom and outside. Insane throw, wonderful combination. Almost like B&BW's candle London Calling. Excellent balance of tea and sweet lemon. Even the biggest tea haters would be forced to agree this is perfect. Literally (LOL) the best scent I have melted in a long time. Cutting wax is the devil. Shards of wax all over the place. Nice handwriting, needing more Rosegirls. Cool colors. Needing to get back into teas. Wanting to go to high tea. Curdle is an awful word.

Overall Rating: 10/10; AMAZING, THE BEST, WONDERFUL, ETC. Never having enough adjectives to describe how wondrous something is. Herbal rosemary toned down by the spearmint, which leads the way to the peppermint. Ooooooooooooh, the peppermint! Always wanting, needing, craving mint scents. Branching out from my normal pink peppermint at night scent. Insane throw, could smell this outside in the backyard, and in the living room with the door to the bedroom closed. This lasted in my warmer 2 days because I didn't want to turn it off. It did dissipate, obvs. Vendors not always opened when I need a "fix," TAT is tremendous for Sniff My Tarts, but damn if they aren't worth it!! Sniff My Tarts will always be Sniff My Farts to my husband. You must try this, it is the ultimate minty wonderblend. Saying wonder a lot in different forms. The word "wonderful" reminding me of a Christmas song. CHRISTMAS MEANS MINTS. CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since it's my birthday, I figured I'd melt something pepperminty, but this bad boy has been going since yesterday, so I'm not going to be the cause of its stopping. ;)

Overall Rating: 10/10; In this case, soy greatly > outweighs paraffin. Insane, ridiculous, intense throw. Cold and warm scent are off the chain strong. 10/10 all the way. Loving mints, obsessed with mints, mostly at night, but any other time will do, too. Smells like gum, but again, in a good way. Disliking gum in spearmint flavor, but liking mints in spearmint flavor. 2-3 cubes per melt, usually 2, but this time, I went all out with 3 per. Needing to order from this vendor more frequently, but she mostly sells paraffin. Dreaded clamshells not so bad this time around. LEGIT OILS, came off on my fingers and I didn't care at all. Lasted from the morning yesterday until the afternoon today. Mints over gum any day, I will fight you on this. Birthdays, happy birthdays. Getting older. Almost 30. Scared. Cold. Naked and afraid Ok, not naked, just afraid. A 10/10 melt should whip me into shape. ;)

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #62: Alamo Candelaria's Vintage

I think it's safe to say I have found the tart version of Bath & Body Works' greatest scent ever, London Calling.

Overall Rating: 10/10; the greatest scent on Earth, nay, the solar system. The exact duplication of my favorite candle, but in tart form! YAY! Tea and lemon, seriously. Black, hot steeped tea mixes in an intoxicating fashion with not a cleaner lemon, but a zesty, wonderful, fruity, fragrant and delicious lemon. 4 huge tarts to one roll. SO FREAKING STRONG!! 10/10 in ever sense of the phrase. No lie, this tart lasted 2 days. 2 DAYS!!! Being able to buy in bulk. Wonderful embeds and designs. Top notch, the best packaging from any vendor. Classy, themed, mature, brilliant. Scent names invoke such a powerful description on their own. Vintage tea time. Wanting to try candied, preserved lemons. Not being able to find my favorite tea. Loving black tea, give me suggestions. Such a tremendous scent, I cannot think of enough descriptor words to say how wonderful it it. <3 <3 <3 <3

Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Autumn Leaves

Overall Rating: 6/10; sort of perfumey, not at all like Leaves (dupe), but much more earthy and pungent. Not my favorite scent, but it's not terrible. Decent throw, lasted 5.5 hours in the bathroom! Not a repurchase, though.

Bonfire Bliss~A fragrance reminiscent of gentle, dusky breezes and bonfires, with notes of dried, wind-blown leaves, heliotrope, charred woods of pine and cedar, amber, smoky sandalwood, and musk with a background containing hints of roasted marshmallows, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla. This is a fascinating, complex, unique and appealing scent.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10; what a complex scent description! I hink it shows because there are a lot of things going on here. There's the gooey marshmallow, sweet and creamy, but then another sweetness, perhaps a sugar note, plus the fire scent and then a very woodsy non-fire type of scent, I'm assuming it's the amber/sandalwood/charred woods of pine and cedar. Very intriguing indeed. Lasted 7 hours in the bedroom, Repurchase!

Frosted Pumpkin Cupcakes~ *Sugar & Spice Exclusive Blend!*Blend of Frosted Pumpkin, Birthday cake and Buttercream Frosting....yummy!

Overall Rating: 9/10; insane how strong her blends are! MMMMM! The mac apple is bright and a little bit overwhelming in a good way, the leaves adds some much needed earthiness and crispiness, and the marshmallow noel sweetens the whole deal. INCREDIBLE! Many times repurchase!!! Lasted all freaking day in the bedroom, about 16 hours. Could smell this outside the house.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10; what can I say that hasn't already been said about S&S...Shanna takes the time to blend her wax to its utmost potency. This is another wonderful blend, but it's missing that marshmallow sweetness and instead. replaced it with more apple and tons of spice. Good! Lasted all day, again, in the bedroom, about 16 hours. I am in love with S&S. REPURCHASE!

Bubbling Butter Brew - My interpretation of Harry Potter's Butter Beer. Sweet clotted cream, salted caramel, rich butterscotch, and a touch of bubbling cream soda.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10; HARRY POTTER!!!!!!! I am much more accepting of all scents, now, and this wasn't half bad. Not fully sweet, not fully buttery, more creamy and butterscotch-like than anything. Really nice if you need something different for a change. Lasted 3 hours in the bathroom. Not a repurchase for me.

Old Time Holiday Shoppe - bubbling cranberry fizz layered with lemon curd.

Overall Rating: 6/10; very fizzy and sweet, but not TBG's typical lemon curd to me. Much sweeter. Fizziness is nice, if you like that sort of thing. Lasted 4-5 hours in the bathroom and I think I melted all 6 cubes at once on this one (which I don't recommend. The less, the better.) and though I lover her decorations and touches on top, I am over the sugar crystals on her wax. They are such a royal pain in the ass to remove from pouring while hot. Not a repurchase,

Sugar Candy Wreath - sugar, cotton candy, eucalyptus, evergreen, plums, cherries, oranges and strawberries

Overall Rating: 6.5/10; a free sample from my order that lasted 5 hours in the bathroom. This smelled like spicy caramel cake on cold sniff, but while warming, something came out in this melt that I didn't like at all. Overly buttery to me. Not one I'd purchase for me.

Wonderful chunklets! Throw improved with this wax blend. So good. Potential to stain warmer with her other pink blends!

Overall Rating: 6/10; this smelled incredible for the first 30 minutes, but when it got into the first hour mark, it started to smell disgusting to my nose. Most people would like this because it's a bakery/rich/caramelly scent, but to me, it smelled like gross curdled milk plus caramel sweetness. Yikes. Sorry, Kirby, this wasn't for me! Good medium throw, though, but something in there was just....eesh!

Overall Rating: 6/10; this is a special exclusive blend between VCS and Tiffany Candles. It smells mostly bakery to me with maybe a little touch of spice. It was okay, but nothing special to me. Bakery fans will like this one.

Overall Rating: 7/10; you can really smell the cream cheese in this one! Yum! The pumpkin is there, but it's sweet and not super spicy to my nose. I would have liked a bit more spice to this. Lasted 6 hours in the bathroom 2 times, each half of the leaf. I would repurchase this.

You know those days you wake up feeling miserable and then find greatness early in the morning??? Yeah...that pretty much sums up the morning I melted this.

The Lodge's Kitchen - A mixture of all the spices and ingredients used to prepare the cookies and pies baking in the Lodge’s oven.

Overall Rating: 10/10; the absolute definition of perfection in wax. Incredible cold sniff smell, even more amazing warm sniff smell. Spicy for sure, with traces of light bakery, apples and sweetness, holy cow, this melt is phenomenal! Lasted an entire day, mainly because I didn't want to dump it. Strong, lasting, brilliant blend of scents. Fall perfect, year round acceptable. Not knowing what a lodge smells like. Never having been to a lodge. Would make the perfect snowy day tart. Simple labels, clean looking wax, wonderful scent cups where the wax doesn't stick to the plastic. Lake Providence Lodge = my new top 5 favorite vendor. Etsy overcharging for shipping, but awesome vendor refunding charges if over $1. TRY THIS VENDOR!!!

Autumn Morn - A cheerful fall welcome with the spicy warmth of autumn leaves, cinnamon apples, nutmeg and clove.

Christmas Past - Reminds me a what Christmas in days gone by would have smelled like. Nothing fancy. Blue spruce and fir scents with top-notes of northern pine, a spicy cinnamon middle note and a warm woody base note. Super strong.
