As I type this, tiny little drizzle blobs are falling from the sky. As I type this, I have realized that being a weatherperson is the only job where you can lie professionally and get away with it because the weather said "moderate rain from this morning until tomorrow morning." HA.

Overall Rating: 7/10; frequently clean, always sweet. An interesting take on jasmine. Good for one warmer, but not ever warmer in the house. Carries and lingers. Not sure if I love love it, you know?? Sort of floral, but also sort of like a laundry detergent scent to my nose. Relatively unique scent, in my opinion. Lovely, delicate petal-like scent. Moderate throw. Wax "brittle" in one scent. Mixing floral with marshmallow, is that weird? One piece at a time. Light pink wax color to match the smell of this scent. Sugar versus sugared jasmine. Jasmine flowers in bloom in the front yard in spring, lush and fragrant and much joy they bring. I'mma poet, didja know it? Needing another custom Rosegirls order SOON because ALL THE MINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #54: Front Porch Candle Company's Apple Mango Tango Marshmallow

Do you reserve clean or fresh scents for laundry or cleaning day? I have gotten into that habit over the last year or so, but I love fresh scents, so it's hard to save 'em!

Overall Rating: 7.5/10; creamy marshmallow, one of Front Porch's best scents combined with a delicate yet floral laundry scent. Really excellent blend, tones down the harshness of a straight clothesline type of fragrance. Strong in the bathroom warmer, yet strangely mellow because of, again, that brilliant marshmallow. Probably my favorite marshmallow scent in wax. Lasted 6 hours. Never had a bad blend including marshmallow. Saying marshmallow too much. Fluffy clouds. Reminds me of fluffy towels. Cleaning day. Laundry day. 2 baskets overflowing as we speak. Needing laundry pods. Heavy baskets. Daunting. Fresh laundry is one of the best scents in the world.

Review: Front Porch's Pink Laundry Sheets

Do you have one designated day that you do laundry every week, or do you wait until you run out of clothes and have mountains to do?
I ask because my system is broken.
I can never just get my ass in gear to do laundry! Maybe it's because our washer pipe has a leak, maybe it's because the washer and dryer are in the garage and it's ~*s0o0o0o0o0o far away~* or maybe it's because no matter what the stupid basket weighs 49827598042509827 pounds, but I need a new system.

Regardless, when I am in "laundry mode," I am unstoppable. I have to have laundry or clean or fresh scents going...something about the smell of the detergent mixed with the scent of grassy socks (LOL) gets my in the mood to launder!
I reached for Front Porch's Pink Laundry Sheets because pink plus anything is bound to be good, right?
...ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I spoke too soon.

(I've come to find out there's a scent out there for everyone, even if you personally feel like it's horrible and putrid.)
This is neither of those things, but it's most definitely not my favorite laundry scent. Heck, it's not even my favorite laundry scent from Front Porch!
To me, this smells like some sort of topical cream you might find in a Walgreens. Or something from a hospital. Well, the "laundry" part, anyways. Is it weird that it smelled a little yeasty? Despite this description, it's not bad, but it's not that good, either. It was strong, though, so does that count for something? I think the pink sugar is what saves this from being downright awful. I probably let this go on for too long at about 4 hours, but I'm sure it would have thrown like a champ for many more.
Needless to say, I wouldn't repurchase this.

Cold Rating: 5/10; none of what I smell while warming (medicated cream, yeastiness, Walgreens) are there on cold sniff. It just smells like a stranger laundry scent with small hints of pink sugar.
Lit Rating: 3/10; nope.
Throw Rating: 8/10; strong throw, if only this scent was actually good!
Overall Rating: 5/10; not a fan of this. Needing laundry day revamping. Cannot discount this scent's strength but still slightly rounded down. Stupid leaking pipe connected to washer. Water damage. WASHER TOO FAR. Walgreens smells funky. Go on, girl.

Review: Front Porch's Baby's Clean Laundry

What do you think of when I say the word "baby"?
Newborn humans or animals? A Pet name? Justin Bieber's hit song?
What about baby powder? Fresh clothes??

Front Porch's Baby's Clean Laundry was exactly what I needed while I was doing laundry the other day, but I'm not sure what exactly compelled me to buy this considering I am not a fan of "baby" scents.
This had a powdery laundry note, which I'm usually not a fan of, but the throw on this was medium, so it wasn't overly in your face.
Powdery tarts are very overpowering to my nose, even a slight detection of powder and I'm usually out of there, but this wasn't horrid. All in all, a clean scent I wouldn't mind repurchasing.
This filled up the kitchen nicely!

Front Porch's Baby's Clean Laundry
Cold Rating: 6/10; decent strength on cold sniff, all I get is powder though.
Lit Rating: 6/10; more of a straightforward laundry note comes out while warming, but the powder always remains there.
Throw Rating: 6.5/10; not overly annoying as far as throw is concerned, it's not grating on the senses but still manages to keep me interested.
Overall Rating: 6/10; laundry days suck because I am the stainiest person that ever stained shirt. SERIOUSLY. No article of clothing is safe with me. This was okay.

Review: Candles From The Keeping Room's Avocado and Sea Salt

So, with the upcoming move (which is this TUESDAY, 110% sure, yay!), which I feel has been dragging on for long enough, I was looking for a nice, clean scent to sort of....well....clear out the "stench" of things. You know, the smell things get when they sit for 4 years in a closet you never open? Yeah, that "stench."

I definitely found a winner in Candles From The Keeping Room's Avocado and Sea Salt. I liked this so much that I bought another bag of it already. It's soapy, and very interesting. I sort of thought it would smell like guacamole, I mean, it's avocado after all, right? Well, no, not at all, actually! This is a fresh, clean scent with a touch of saltiness, perfect for cleaning days. I prefer fresh LAUNDRY scents as opposed to ones like this, but it'll do in a pinch! Plus, I'm thinking about putting a warmer in the garage at the new place for a while...it's sort of musty and yucky (typical garage...right???), and this scent might be just the thing to make it smell pretty!

Candles From The Keeping Room's Avocado and Sea Salt
Cold Rating: 6.5/10; super fresh, almost like detergent, but more soapy, if that's even possible. Strong even though it's paraffin wax.
Lit Rating: 9/10; STRONG! Made the house smell less contaminated (and I mean this in the nicest way possible).
Throw Rating: 8/10; immediately fills the air with a clean, sparkling type of aroma, lingered throughout the apartment and back again.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10; this is the definition of fresh to death! Werd! I've got 4 or 5 more of these, and will enjoy melting them on cleaning days. Great throw, but very soapy smelling...minus suds, of course. :)

Review: Tiffany Candles Kiwi Cucumber Mango (NEW SCENT!)

Kiwis? Delicious and juicy.
Mango? Absolutely. (Cool story: My friend gave me mangoes when I was in a car accident, broke my ankle, and ended up in the hospital...he said they were good luck and a Chinese tradition!)
Cucumber? Well, I sort of like the smell, not the food, but I do love me some pickles. (Another example of my oddness, right there...)

Here's another scent from Tiffany Candles' Sampler Pack! This one surprised me...I am usually not a fan of overly fresh or spa scents (with a few exceptions), but Kiwi Cucumber Mango was just delicious! You could actually smell fresh, juicy kiwis mixed with hints of tropical mangoes under a bed  of cool cucumber! I really, really liked this one. It was super strong and lasted about 5 1/2 hours (I turned it off and saved the disc).

Cold Rating: 6/10; you can absolutely smell each individual note in this, with stronger accents on the kiwi and cucumber. Smells great! 
Lit Rating: 7/10; again, I am impressed! I had my doubts at first, but this spa-type scent with fruity freshness makes this a winner. 
Throw Rating: 6.5/10; pretty good throw, I could sort of smell this in the living room if I sniffed really hard. 
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; a solid scent in my book and a definite repurchase for me! Am I becoming a flip-flopper on spa and fresh scents as well? Who knows...we shall see!

Weekend Wax Review: September 1-2

First of all, has anyone seen the movie "John Carter," anyone at all?
No?
There's a reason it flopped, trust me. Steer clear, my friends, it's not very good.

Saturday: Burned a few scents on Saturday. I was trying to finish off a Yankee votive in Cherry Lemonade, but not dice. Met my mom at a shop up the street, then took our pup to her house for lunch. So, I still have half of it left, which is alright, because it smells amazing, just like Fruit Strips gum! When I got home, I burned Yankee Candle Simply Home Beach Towel for a few hours to freshen up the joint because it always makes the house smell better. When Josh got home, I showed him my newly purchased/exchanged White Barn Marshmallow Fireside, and we had that one going for the rest of this night. It made me want s'mores...fabulous, delicious s'mores...review to come on this wonderful fragrance sometime this week.

Sunday: Cleaned the house today, so I needed something clean and floral to brighten up the air! I actually melted Scentsy's 'Awakening' in my tart warmer. If you haven't tried Scentsy, the concept is pretty neat, sort of like AVON but with scented wax; some scents are hit and miss, though, many I've smelled have been artificial (cinnamon should smell like cinnamon, not carnauba wax infused Big Red). You can buy other brands of wax cubes at any number of places online, as well as in-store at placeslike Walmart (Better Homes & Gardens brand, Scentsationals, etc). 'Awakening' is part of Scentsy's Spa collection; it was a great air freshener, and powerful, but did the job! I don't sell Scentsy, so don't think this is a cheap ploy to get you to purchase from me, because it's not. Tonight, we are burning Slatkin's Pink Sangria (4oz) as a change of pace; we wanted something fruity, and this scent is fabulous: juicy raspberries, tangy tangerine, infused with brandy-soaked grapes. Delish, if only I had a Pink Sangria drink in my hand right now!

Weekend Wax Review August 26-27

This weekend was pretty awesome and laid back, which is something we have definitely needed after the last month of non-stop craziness.
We watched a lot of movies, had some laughs, and I also helped him study for his upcoming wine test...I should explain!
My husband does in-bound customer support for a wine company, but he is in the process of taking a special test to become a "wine steward;" if he passes said test, he can take this honor with him from job to job. It's been really fun learning about all of the regions where wines come from and subtle distinctions between different wines.

Today, while we did all of that, I burned a few different candles. I have been trying to burn a few different ones as my mood changes, because it isn't written anywhere that you have to stick with just one fragrance!

Here's the breakdown of my weekend burning:

Saturday: we were out most of the day, but when we got home for the night, I burned a candle from Bath and Body Works (Slatkin) called Lilac Blossom (4oz). This candle is extremely floral, but not as in-your-face as Flower Shop, which is my favorite floral scent from Slatkin, and the one I prefer. There's something a bit off about Lilac Blossom, I just can't put my finger on it...maybe it's too sweetly floral? If that makes any sense...

Sunday: I PROMISED Josh that I would burn my latest Marshall's find, Pumpkin Patch (a Spiced Pumpkin and Harvest swirl candle), because he liked it so much. This candle is AMAZING, and it's perfect how I'm feeling right now because I can't wait until fall is here! The scent is that of warm, inviting pumpkin pie with extra cinnamon, swirled with musk and apples. If you have a chance to go to your local Marshall's or Home Goods and fall scents are up your alley, BUY. THIS. CANDLE. You WILL NOT regret it!

Currently, though, I am burning Yankee Candle's Simply Home Fresh Water, another Marshall's steal. This one was an additional dollar off of the ALREADY cheap $5 price tag. This one is excellent as well: fresh, clean, like crisp water running down a cool waterfall, mixed with the slightest hint of limey citrus and some subtle florals. I've had this candle going for about 4 hours, and I think I'll stick with it; the house smells fantastic!...well, between the candle and the tacos Josh is making for dinner, of course.  :-)

Review: Yankee Candle Simply Home Beach Towel Candle

I have been burning this scent like a mad woman.
Almost every single day.
In 87-95 degree weather.

It seems like the Simply Home line of Yankee Candles can be found at stores such as Kohl's and Home Goods, which is where I picked up this scent. The particular candle I got was 12oz. of glorious, refreshing fragrance. Within 30 minutes of burning this candle, my room was instantly filled with a crisp and clean beach scent, which is awesome because I've grown to hate the beach as an adult. Sand and sharks overpower waves and sunshine in my opinion, but San Diego does produce a mighty fine, picturesque beach sunset...aghhhh, conflicting! The throw is excellent, and the aroma lingers long after the flames has extinguished.

Another cool this about this candle is it comes in a curved jar. I know it's nothing to get overly excited about, but sometimes the tumblers and regular jars get sort of boring. Plus, this candle is a really nice dark blue, so it goes with pretty much any room decor. I actually decided to buy the curved jar because, for only $1 more, I got and extra 5 ounces as opposed to the other option, which was a 7oz. tumbler. This candle was only $7.99, whereas anything directly from Yankee's website or in store would be a lot more money! Quite a find, if I do say so myself!

Anyways, back to the candle! The aroma is to die for; the smell of freshly cleaned towels combine with an airy ocean scent and a hint of citrus to make this candle a winner in my book. If you smell reaaaally close, you can almost get a hint of salt intertwined with the citrus and linen, indicative and true to that of sea breeze.

Writing this makes me want to buy a spare just in case they don't last long! If you come across this fragrances and it's the sort of thing you enjoy, DEFINITELY give it a whirl!
