The Scholarly Nail's West Coast Round Robin Picks!

Hi all! So, I've got something fun for y'all today! Jacqui over at The Scholarly Nail & The Scholarly Nail Wax Blog asked me if i wanted to participate in her round robin box! As it turns out, quite a lot of people were interested, so she actually made TWO freaking boxes, one for west coast people and one for east coast folks! I want to take a second to thank you again Jacqui for including me in this awesome round robin box. I enjoy your blog and am glad to participate!

She had several rules, which I am really a fan of, because often times the round robin boxes can go south, and fast. Jacqui, I hope you don't mind me putting some of these here, I think they are good universal rules for others to know in case they want to start and RR box!

1) The first rule was to, obviously, replace the amount you took with an equal amount of wax (not necessarily scent shot for scent shot, but the same amount of wax). *All in all, I took 1.7 pounds of wax and replaced it with 3 pounds of wax, to give people more options. :)
2) Second, we were to take photos of what we took out as well as what we put back in. If you are participating in this round robin and DO NOT want to know what I put in, I will have a warning later in this post.
3) This was mainly a spring/summer/year-round scents box, so pumpkin/nog/pine/fa-la-la-la-la stuff should be kept to a minimum.
4) If the box gets messed up, replace it. If lids fall off, tape 'em up. Re-label or re-bag scents that were tearing (one thing arrived in a broken bag, so I re-bagged and tagged it!)
5) Consider the person getting the box next! Abby (SoCalCandleGal) is next, so I hope she finds a few things in there she likes. :)
6) No glass, no retail vendors, no candles, etc.
7) Make a post/video about your items! So, here we are. Let's get into it these are my picks!
-Candles From The Keeping Room - Fruit Loops Toasted Marshmallow: this is AMAZING. I have been trying to get a bag of this and it's always gone when I am buying. It's very creamy fruit loops!

-Rosegirls - Raspberry Swirl Ice Cream: we each got to take 1 chunk of Rosegirls, so I chose this one. It's a sweet raspberry mixed with that, you guessed it, creaminess! Nice!

-Orchid Lake Candles - Lemon Lime Twist: this was Josh's #1 pick from the box. He LOVES lemon and lime scents, and this has the tiniest hint of effervescence! A winner, for sure.

-CFTKR - Serendipity Marshmallow Delight (4 tarts): a lighter serendipity scent as it's combined with toasted marshmallow. It's super-dee-duper sweet!

-Lasting Scent Candles - Peppermint Marshmallow Snow: very mint, nice marshmallow, and vanilla. Very strong on cold sniff. LOVE IT!

-Beezy-Tarts - Pink Mrs. Claus Cookies: Beezy has such amazing pink blends...it's some of the strongest pink I have ever smelled. The cookie not is light compare to the choke-you-out pink!

-Skinny Dip Soaps - Lemon Sugar Cookie: just a nice, bakery, sugary cookie with lemon undertones. Another pick from Josh!

-CFTKR - Strawberry Fluff: I LOVE this strawberry shape...it's so realistic! The strawberry is a cross between artificial and real with marshmallow...apparently I am on a marshmallow kick???

-Ten Digit Creations - Laundry Day: It's so funny...I was going to make an order with this company just for this scent. This scent is just like fresh laundry out of the washer and dryer. Simply great! It'll be perfect for cleaning day

-Sweet Fixations - Brown Sugar Cake: I swear, this smells like a dupe for Brown Sugar & Fig from Bath & Body Works. I wonder if any cake will come out while warming...we shall see! It's very nice.

-Lasting Scent Candles - Blackberry Lime Love: Heavy on the lime, this is a nice blend. I don't know what "LOVE" means here, but I "LOVE" it. (see what I did there????)

-The Scented Princess - Coconut Lime Verbena, Cotton Candy, Fruity Rings: I only get the coconut lime verbena on cold sniff, this I am a huge fan of that scent. There's a slight 'fruit loops' scent in the background, though.

-The Scented Princess - Honey Bunny: Is this a dupe for Honey I Washed The Kids? Even if it's not, I like it. This'll be a good sleepytime scent!

-The Bathing Garden - The Olive Lemon Grove: I have already melted 2 cubes of this and we love it. It's not perfumey, but it sort of reminds me of a man. Well, it's unisex. The lemon mixes well with olive and has a slight sweetness to it. Very, very nice for sleeping, too!

IF YOU ARE IN THIS ROUND ROBIN AND DO NOT WANT TO SEE WHAT I HAVE PUT IN THE BOX, PLEASE STOP READING RIGHT HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

SarahFace87's Round Robin: My First Round Robin Experience!

A YouTube user by the name of Sarah (sarahface87) contacted me and asked me if I wanted to be part of her Round Robin! After some (short) consideration, I decided to take part in the fun!

A Little Bit of Information
Here's what a Round Robin (RR) is, in case you're unfamiliar: basically, one person (in this case, Sarah) starts a box filled with all sorts of wax goodies. They ship it to the first person on the RR list who then inspects all of those goodies, takes out what they want from the items inside, and refills the box with their own wax! For example, let's say they took out 3 scents shots only; it is their obligation to put back in at least 3 scent shots in return (though there's no way to check if someone really put that amount back in, every person is just on the honor system). Most people feel very generous when doing RR boxes, so they replace what they took with way more wax than is necessary.

I had to restrain myself a little bit with what I took! There was SO MUCH stuff in the box! It was full to the tippy top when I got it. I received the package Saturday and shipped it off to the next person this afternoon.

What I Took
There it is in all it's glory. I'm really not sure how much people take on average, but I've seen videos on other RR boxes where people took a lot more than this, and some where they took a lot less than this. I want to let you all know I did replace item for item (IE: clamshell for clamshell, 4-pack for 4-pack, etc).
Another photo, minus the clamshell and the 4-pack.
These two are from Shayz Scents, the left being a single tart melt in Pink Nog, the right being a scent shot in Bedtime Snack.
-Pink Nog is really pink sugary, I almost get no nog whatsoever. Nog, to me, implies spice, like the drink. I got this because I think I'll enjoy it while it's warming.
--SIDEBAR-- How to we feel about nog? Do we like it? Hate it? What IS nog (minus the egg part)??
-Bedtime Snack is interesting as well...it's a weird mix of lavender/chamomile/sleepytime tea, honey, and some sort of bakery note. Very intriguing, might be a good nighttime scent.
Someone(s) included in this RR box does not like cranberry scents, which worked to my advantage since I love cranberry.
-First, we have Cranberry Bog from Granny's Kountry Candles. I thought about this one, put it back in, and then when I went to smell it again, the bottom of the cup shattered, so I took it...this is not to say it's bad, because it's not, I just had other stuff I was interested in getting! It's a very nice cranberry, almost like opening a bottle of juice and sniffing the contents.
-Next, Lime Crescents from GKC as well. This is straight-up sliced lime, no bakery, no fakeness. Very fresh and clean.
-Finally in this photo, we have Josh's pick: Iced Lemon Cookies from Haley's Heavenly Scents. He loves lemon, so we snatched this up right quick! It's very cookie with a hint of lemon, surprisingly.
-Another cranberry scents, this time from Pics, Petals & Scents,  a 2oz. scent shot in Spiced Cranberry. Very, very nice mix of the spice and berry. Love it, but it'll probably be one I need to cut in half since it smells strong (by the way, if you want a loaf of a scent, her (PP&S) prices are ridiculously low for loaves).
-Next, we've got a small slice of Huckleberry Harvest from Rosegirls, whose claim to fame are chunks (like Sniff My Tarts). This is a nice berry scent with maybe a hint of spice, not much else to say about it. Great one!
-Lastly in this photo, we've got Beezy Tarts' Mulled Cider. I've always claimed there are 2 types of apple, the first being bright and fresh, and the second being candied and artificial. Beezy has remarkably strong tarts, and this is a bright, realistic apple with mulling spices. Fantastic. There's one donut tart here.
-On the left, we've got Oatmeal, Milk & Honey from The Bathing Garden, a highly coveted item! I have not seen this stocked on Shannon's Etsy page ever, even though this looks like it's from Halloween...maybe it's form last year? Maybe I missed it. Anywho, this is FABULOUS; it's strong on cold sniff, and you get each note individually, as well as combined.
-Finally, we've got an Amish Friendship Bread 4-pack from Front Porch. I've never tried this scent but it's often regarded as a "fan favorite" across most vendors. It's a nice and sweet yet slightly spicy, fruity, caramelly bread scent. Marvelous!

ALSO! I completely forgot, I exchanged something I had for this (an even exchange)...I enjoyed this scent way more!
Wrapping Up
Overall, this was a very fun experience! There was tons of stuff in the box, and like I said above, I had to exercise great restraint!
Waiting for the box was exciting, seeing what other people took from the box was great, shipping it was a pain in the ass... and I should note: I had to up the box from a medium flat-rate box to a large flat-rate box, so it was a little bit expensive (about $15 shipping) but I knew it was coming. I don't know that I'd run out and do one every single week, but I'd be part of another one for sure! If you'd like to do one or know anyone who is involved, let me know! :)

Have you ever been part of a Round Robin? Would you ever try it out? See anything you've tried in my "haul"? :)
