Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #100: Candles from the Keeping Room's Strawberry Marshmallow

I have done 100 Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review! WOWZA!!! :)
Candles from the Keeping Room's Strawberry Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 10/10
Overall Rating: 9.5/10; one of the best throwing melts I have ever encountered. SO GOOD. The strawberry is Carol's signature partially candied sweet/partially realistic earthy strawberry, mixed with her wonderful, gooey marshmallow to make this one heck of a melt. Those. Strawberry. Shape. Are. So. Cute!! Could smell this outside my house. Lasted 12+ hours between the bathroom and bedroom melts. Finally, I feel reinvigorated to melt again! Needing more of CFTKR's new scents. Missing restock windows, or opting not to buy. Not good for my wallet. Wanting to make angel food cake. Air smelling so good you want to taste it. Tremendous staying power mixed with insane throw  = one of the greatest melts I have had in a long time!!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #92: Lake Providence Lodge's Cotton Candy

As summer comes to a close, I am trying to use the last few of my "summer box" scents.
Lake Providence Lodge's Cotton Candy
Cold Rating: 8.5/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; insanely sweet. Intensely accurate. Probably the most spot on cotton candy scent I have smelled in wax. Strong, ferocious throw, we could smell this coming from under the closed door. Bright and glistening with candy smell. Pink and fluffy. Wanting a cotton candy machine......OH WAIT, OWNING A COTTON CANDY MACHINE!!!! But never using it...where is that darn thing?? Cotton candy not only for fairs. Ferris wheels. Sticky fingers. Fried corn and turkey legs. Delicious, but makes you feel sick after eating it sometimes. Blending cotton candy with a myriad of other scents and fruity fragrances. One of the best blenders. One of the best vendors!!!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #91: Haley's Heavenly Scents' Toasted Pink Sugar

It. Is. Too. Damn. Hot.
Haley's Heavenly Scents' Toasted Pink Sugar
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10; almost perfection. Lasted FOREVER. 2 cubes per melt, 3 times the wax. 2 cubes is perfect. Perfect combination of toasted marshmallow (ONE OF THE BEST IN THE BIZ) and super strong pink sugar. Slightly musky from PS, super sweet. Goo. Goo is an awful word. Bright pink. These clamshells got skuuuuuuuuunkyyyyyyyy after a while. People who say skunky smell doesn't transfer to melting wax are insane, it toes does. Oils on oils on oils. Haley's is one of my favorite vendors.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #80: Candles from the Keeping Room's Toasted Marshmallow

Marshmallows are making a comeback this summer in our house. I can't get enough!!
Toasted Marshmallow - best way to describe this scent is...when you are making your sweet potato dishes, and spread the top of the dish with marshmallows....and run it under your broiler..the nice sweet toasted aroma of marshmallows....so yummy, sweet and yet still a comfort scent
Candles from the Keeping Room's Toasted Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; cruller tarts are the cutest. Gooey, ooey, yummy, sweet, a little toasty, not overly so, wonderful. CFTKR has one of the best marshmallow scents out there. 1-2 tarts per melting session. A bag lasts forever. Paraffin wax seemingly lasts years. Lasting! Simply, elegant labeling, always accurate, descriptive scent descriptions. Images of Thanksgiving because of the above description. Very strong throw, excellent while melting smell. Lasted 8+ hours in the bathroom on multiple occasions.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #59: Front Porch's Moonspice Marshmallow

My love of celtic moonspice knows no bounds, 365/24/7, all the time.
Front Porch's Moonspice Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 8/10
Overall Rating: 8/10; FP's marshmallow strikes again. Celtic moonspice creepin' up in all warmers. Lovely throw, pleasant fragrance. Sweet and slightly spicy, but mostly marshmallowy that is sort of velvety, too. Huge cookie shapes. 2-3 melts per cookie. Lasted 6-8 hours each time I melted. Lovely bags. Simple labels. Fantastic blends. Marshmallow being a stand-by scent. Not ordering from Front Porch in a long time, Ignoring emails. Refusing to update email app. Needing a new phone because mine won't charge. Repurchase for sure!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #54: Front Porch Candle Company's Apple Mango Tango Marshmallow

Do you reserve clean or fresh scents for laundry or cleaning day? I have gotten into that habit over the last year or so, but I love fresh scents, so it's hard to save 'em!
Apple Mango Tango laundry type + marshmallow
Front Porch Candle Company's Apple Mango Tango Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 7.5/10
Lit Rating: 8/10
Throw Rating: 7.5/10
Overall Rating: 7.5/10; creamy marshmallow, one of Front Porch's best scents combined with a delicate yet floral laundry scent. Really excellent blend, tones down the harshness of a straight clothesline type of fragrance. Strong in the bathroom warmer, yet strangely mellow because of, again, that brilliant marshmallow. Probably my favorite marshmallow scent in wax. Lasted 6 hours. Never had a bad blend including marshmallow. Saying marshmallow too much. Fluffy clouds. Reminds me of fluffy towels. Cleaning day. Laundry day. 2 baskets overflowing as we speak. Needing laundry pods. Heavy baskets. Daunting. Fresh laundry is one of the best scents in the world.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #43: Flaming Star Scents' Pink Peppermint

Ahhhhhhhhh. mint, my lovely little friend.
I hope our adventures never end.
PINK PEPPERMINT - FRESH PEPPERMINT BLENDED WITH PINK SUGAR. WONDERFUL RELAXING AROMA
Flaming Star Scents' Pink Peppermint
Cold Rating: 5/10
Lit Rating: 5/10
Throw Rating: 5/10
Overall Rating: 5/10; average all the way around. Nothing to write home about. More sweet than pink or peppermint. In fact, hardly any pink sugar in this. Beginning to YOLO and melt mints during the day, too. Love the light pink wax. Scent shots looking bigger than they do on websites and in photos. Vendors randomly changing their names (Flaming Star Scents is owned by Marcy who used to be Pics, Petals & Scents). Cute little sun logo! Lasted about 4 hours with an average throw in the bedroom. Overuse of the word average. Average = math = UGH. Mean, median, mode.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #42: Enchanted Candle Company's Nod & Dream

Lavender has been a big hit during the nighttime melting sessions for us lately.
Nod and Dream - It will be hard not to nod and dream with this relaxing blend of lavender, vanilla, and chamomile
Enchanted Candle Company's Nod & Dream
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; intoxicating lavender, slight sweetness from the vanilla, and the other things which I can only assume is chamomile (which I don't think I like). Only decent throw for something that's usually as powerful as lavender. Needing a stronger herbal note to nod off to beddy-by land. Lavender Vanilla from B&BW is what I imagine heaven smells like. Cooking with lavender? Vanilla overpowering everything. Lasted all night, medium throw, needed something else when I woke up. What does chamomile smell like straight up? I think I had it in a tea the other day and didn't care for that, either.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #41: Aunt Smellman's Frost Bit

November means cooler weather (except last week) and MINTS!!!!!
Frost Bit - Sweet minty freshness with a hint of vanilla bean.
Aunt Smellman's Frost Bit
Cold Rating: 6.5/10
Lit Rating: 4/10
Throw Rating: 5/10
Overall Rating: 5/10; sweet mint mixed with an even sweeter vanilla. Based on cold sniff, I expected something much more minty as opposed to something sweeter. Nothing to write home about, unfortunately. Medium throw. Melted this all night, but only had scent throw for the first 2 hours (when I woke up, it smelled like wax in the room). Minty scents always go in our bedroom. Never being satisfied with the amount of mint in a scent, even if it's straight peppermint...wanting to find the one thing that blows me out of the water. Never having a white Christmas. No frost nipping at my nose. Thinking of Frost Bit as something more menthol related. Aunt Smellman a mixed bag of amazing fruity scents but just okay other scents. Little tiny pieces of glitter in the wax warmer for weeks on end.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #28: Butterfly Lane Scents' Candy Corn

The Fall Slut will be ashamed of me once again, unfortunately. ;)
Butterfly Lane Scents' Candy Corn
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 5.5/10
Throw Rating: 5.5/10
Overall Rating: 5.5/10; nondescript buttercream scent. Nothing that resembles candy corn on the tip of my nose, but rather a sweet, but also buttery scent. Also, not too terribly strong all around, but not weak, either. Unfortunately, nothing too terrible great. Better scents from BL out there. Cute pumpkin shape. Shapes > scent shots. No scent description. Melting more wax than necessary. Fall is coming. NO ONE REALLY LIKES CANDY CORN, don't lie!!!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #24: BeauxSavonsFrais' Sugar Coma

This vendor has closed down from its original owner and has transferred to someone else in the wax world, so I have no idea if this scent still exists.
BeauxSavonsFrais' Sugar Coma
Cold Rating: 6.5/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 7.5/10
Overall Rating: 7/10; one of the very few scents I've melted from BSF that had a decent throw. Smelled like pink sugar with fruits, but really nothing beyond that. Decent staying power. Lasted 6 hours in the bedroom. Very lovely scent and I, unlike many people, love the really fine micro-glitter in her wax. Wanting my entire life to sparkle like glitter. Defunct vendors. Vendors selling their likeness. Confusion. Really good scents versus ones that are not so great. PINK SUGAR ALL THE THINGS!!! Lack of scent descriptions. Having so much wax I feel the need to burrow myself into a hole and melt nothing until it all walks away from my house.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #18: Up The Creek Scents Pink Marshmallow

If I could live in a world built of only one thing/substance, I would pick to live in a world of marshmallows.
Those things would make damn fine pillows.
Up The Creek Scents Pink Marshmallows
Cold Rating: 4.5/10
Lit Rating: 3.5/10
Throw Rating: 5.5/10
Overall Rating: 4/10; extremely uncharacteristic of Up The Creek Scents to have a "bad" scent. Didn't get any pink from this. Marshmallow had a funky undertone. Had lots of cure time but in the end, no dice. Smelled even stranger after many months. The throw wasn't stellar, either. Didn't melt this long. Possible culprit: was this a wrongly labeled tart?  It had slight stinks of zucchini in its wisps. EW Maybe pink sugar isn't their thing? Or maybe their pink sugar is on the muskier side? One "bad" tart won't dissuade me from this company, since most of the stuff I have melted from them has been pretty good. Has anyone else had this problem with their pink sugar scents??

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #12: Tiffany Candles' Fluffy Marshmallow

I wrote an essay when I was 10 years old about how clouds look like marshmallows; I sent it into PBS to win a prize.
I didn't win.
I have never forgotten this sting of rejection.
Tiffany Candles' Fluffy Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; so delicious and creamy and sweet and wonderful! Rivals Front Porch's marshmallow for my favorite. Very strong throw, in fact, this lingered for a long time. Melted for 12 hours, threw strong for about 7 of them. Unfulfilled childhood dreams. I still love PBS and NPR. Doing stereotypical 87 year old things. Marshmallow clouds. Flying in dreams to eat said marshmallow clowns (Deb has made me aware of this typo and I love it so much I am leaving it in here, LOLOL). Serendipity. Serendipity restaurant. Going to New York is my dream. Dreams of being a writer....but always holding onto the sting of rejection at 10.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #11: K's Kreations' Waffle Cone

If I had my dream ice cream, it'd be a big bowl of Spumoni in a waffle cone. With whipped cream on the side. And two cherries. Yeah, that's it...
K's Kreations' Waffle Cone
Cold Rating: 5/10
Lit Rating: 4/10
Throw Rating: 3.5/10
Overall Rating: 4/10; disappointed in the performance of this tart, it was not strong at all. Light wisps on cold, barely any warm throw. I had high expectations but they were not met. Light performance even in a small room. The fair is coming to town soon (the DEL MAR FAIR, not the San Diego County Fair [if you live in SD, you know understand this])!!!!! Never actually tried a waffle cone. Coldstone is so lackluster when it comes to ice cream. Stores that smell life waffles = HEAVEN. Breakfast. Bacon waffle. ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE!! Best coffee ever. Coffee and waffles are like lamb and tuna fish...the one true pairing. Points if you know the movie without Googling it!

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #10: Haley's Heavenly Scents' Lemon Chiffon

Do you have a favorite fruit?? One of mine is lemon. I know, I know, weird, right? But, lemon is so versatile. Pop some flour, sugar, and egg with lemon and get lemon cake. Put lemon and butter and capers together and you have a pasta sauce. Water and lemon and sugar? No problem, lemonade! YUM!
Haley's Heavenly Scents' Lemon Chiffon
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6.5/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; creaminess mixed with lemon, right up my alley. Not intensely strong while warming and could have had a stronger throw. Small traces of cleaner lemon. Versatility of lemons in life. Pasta is my one "desert island food." Cold lemonade on hot, summer days. Mmmmmmmmmm, cake. What is chiffon? Reminds me of meringue. Double F's in words! Word search puzzles. Double Z's in words!! YAY!!!!111~~~``**

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #5: Streetman Candle Company's Pom-Pom Noel

Go team, GO!
Pom-Pom!
TAUNTAUN!!!!!!!!
Streetman Candle Company's Pom-Pom Noel
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6.5/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; sweeter while melting than on cold sniff (to me, at least). Never having anything except Pomegranate juice. Star Wars references. Obsession with vanilla bean noel. Streetman's 1-ounce scent shots kick major ass!

Review: Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Serendipity Marshmallows

Serendipity used to be my favorite scent.
I couldn't get enough of it.
So, as many of us waxies do, we buy what we like. I ended up with an overabundance of serendipity and eventually got to HATING it.
I couldn't even stomach it for months...
...well, on Oscar Sunday this past weekend, I found myself reaching for my old friend.
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy has one of the best, strongest serendipity scents in the wax world. Who am I kidding...Shanna makes some of the strongest stuff period!
Anyways, when I dipped into my big ol' box o' wax, I found this scent shot just calling my name. It was just what I needed to get back into serendipity again!
On cold sniff, it might be hard to tell that there is marshmallow in this because it really does smell like just serendipity. Upon melting, the coconut is strong here, and when mixed with the marshmallow, almost reminds me of a coconut cream pie type without the crust. The cherry is there, but it's not as strong as the coconut. I think the sweetness of the marshmallow really sets this apart from regular old serendipity proper. This scent was very strong for the first 4 hours and lessened after that for another 3 hours. I didn't mind, though, because I grew tired of it after it was fizzling.
I would definitely buy this scent again and am thinking about placing another order with Shanna in the near future because of this scent. It's a good'un, friends!

~~~~~~~~~~
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Serendipity Marshmallows
Cold Rating: 8/10; very strong on cold sniff and a much welcome surprise back into the world of serendipity! Lovely! Hard to find marshmallow versus serendipity sweetness overall.
Lit Rating: 8/10; JUST FANTASTIC. I don't mind that this has less cherry while warming because it's so good, though in a perfect world, it would. Sweet, strong, sassy.
Throw Rating: 8/10; very strong throw, I could smell this through our pocket door and into the TV room. Melodious, not odious!
Overall Rating: 8/10; crazy 8's across the board. Needed more cherry. Serendipity should be a drink flavor. Please don't think I'm an alcoholic. Marshmallow fluff is good stuff. Very good throw. Love this company, hard to get RTS anymore. Custom orders, huzzah!
Review: Front Porch's Pink Sugar Marshmallow
Every wax addict has their favorite vendors and their favorite scents, as well as their favorite scents from specific vendors. I am no exception.
...one of my all-time favorites just happens to be Pink Sugar Marshmallow from Front Porch.
It's so, so amazing.
If you're a fan of pink sugar, this is a must-try. It mixes so perfectly with Front Porch's already stellar marshmallow scent that it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. If I could, I would buy pounds of this scent. It's second only to Pink Peppermint.
As far as the cold sniff scent goes, it's a nice mix, but heavier on the marshmallow. If it doesn't smell that appealing on cold sniff, wait until it warms up, it does get stronger and better and more well-rounded! Its lasting power knows no end, I've had a couple of these tarts last me upwards of 2 days.
This scent continues to surprise and impress me each time I melt it.
~~~~~~~~~~
Front Porch's Pink Sugar Marshmallow
Cold Rating: 7.5/10; the cold sniff isn't exactly the strongest scent I've smelled, but it is in no way, shape or form weak. You get more marshmallow on cold sniff with smaller whiffs of pink sugar (although, some will say that they can't smell FP's pink sugar scent because it's not strong enough).
Lit Rating: 10/10; basically perfection! As I've mentioned, these two scents go together so well, like peanut butter and jelly. Great throw, you get each note individually, really perfect!
Throw Rating: 8.5/10; not weak by any stretch of the imagination, but not blow you away strong all the time. Reeeeeally great!
Overall Rating: 10/10; another "numbers be damned" scent since it's one of my favorites (I am of the opinion that your favs don't have to be punch you in the face strong on cold or warm throw for you to love them). Perfect mix of pink and marshmallow when warmed. Lasting power is always a plus. Needing this in bulk!

Review: Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Pink Peppermint Noel

I could talk about peppermint until I'm blue in the face.
I love it. So much. In any blend.
After being a wax fiend for almost 2 years, I've come to realize that I just always want my nights to consist of peppermint in some form. YUP!
Shanna, the owner of Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy Candles', really does make quality wax, and her pink peppermint is one of the best and strongest. Pink Peppermint Noel is a sweeter, creamier version of pink peppermint, even just basing it off of the name. This is just as strong as it's uber-minty counterpart, which is pretty darn high, high, high! This makes for a great nighttime scent, actually, despite the sweetness. Sometimes, if a tart is too sweet in the middle of the night, it makes me feel a bit sick. I don't want my bedroom to smell like cakes and pies and coffee while I'm sleeping, I need something relaxing! Well, for some reason, vanilla bean noel is an exception to this rule. Shanna's VBN mixed with her pink peppermint really hits it out of the part all-around!

This scent shot  lasted for 12 whoppin' hours in my 24-watt hot plate warmer, and I would absolutely repurchase this scent. In fact, it probably would have gone a bit longer, had I not dumped it out. Remember friends, with soy wax, the longer it sits, the stronger it gets (THE MORE YOU KNOW, PSA, ETC).

~~~~~~~~~~
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Pink Peppermint Noel
Cold Rating: 8/10; I get a lot of sweet vanilla on cold sniff, with whiffs of peppermint here and there, on a base of pink sugar. YUM.
Lit Rating: 8.5/10; insanely great! The peppermint comes out more while melting, and the pink sugar and vanilla bean noel only help enhance it. DOUBLE YUM.
Throw Rating: 8.5/10; fantastic throw for something with a "toner-downer" scent, as I call them (vanilla, marshmallow, swizzle stick candy....more often than not, these scents are added to tone-down and make a tart creamier, masking its original top note scent and sometimes making it less strong...wow, that was very stream of consciousness.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; simply stellar! I love this scent, it's so, so good. I think I still prefer straight pink peppermint, of course, but it IS great. Awesome throw. Baseball. Peanuts. Circus peanuts. Elephants. CLOWNS ARE THE DEVIL. Ahhhhh, peppermint. And now, I sleep!
Review: Rosegirls Alice in Wonderland
Have I mentioned how much I love cotton candy scents? I don't think so, probably because a lot of vendors have sweet scents that are called cotton candy, but not exactly cotton candy types. Cotton candy is amazing in food and wax. Mmmmmmm, cotton candy.
Alice in Wonderland from Rosegirls is a mix of honeydew and cotton candy. For some reason, when these two scents come together, they form an almost watermelon type of scent in the air. This summer, I have been big into watermelon, so this was right up my alley. It's so, so lovely!
I absolutely love this scent. It's got a medium-high throw and lasted all afternoon and well into the night. I've repurchased this scent and I definitely see myself loving it for a long time.
Rosegirls is just so gorgeous overall. I mean, LOOK AT THOSE CHUNKS! The colors are so cool. It's waxy art. I'd definitely check out this scent, it's not exclusively spring or summer, it's just a nice sort of pick-me-up scent. Try it!
~~~~~~~~~~
Rosegirls Alice in Wonderland
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; almost smells like watermelon. Delicious and juicy. Gorgeous chunks. Amazing throw. Cotton candy machine. Lovely!
