Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #82: Vintage Chic Scents' Mr. Sandman

HAPPY JULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, already!?!

I have very little tolerance for anything but mint scents at night now. I have conditioned myself to them, apparently. I am like a cat who doesn't want to be touched. "Blue raspberry? 10pm? BOOHISS!!!!!!!"
Mr. Sandman is sure to bless you with sweet dreams when you melt this scent, a combination of rosemary mint, peppermint, eucalyptus and spearmint.
Vintage Chic Scents' Mr. Sandman
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10; sweet dreams indeed! Minty extravaganza! Peppermint, rosemary mint, eucalyptus, what could be better?? SUUUUUPER strong! Each ingredient evenly added into this blend, nothing really overpowers the other thing. Herbal rosemary mint, cool peppermint, pungent eucalyptus, borders on fresh because of the rosemary/eucalyptus combo. Still there when I woke up, lasted over 13 hours in the bedroom, 10 hours in the bathroom. Smells like a lovely garden...or something. These snowflake/leaf scents are HUMONGOUS, need to be cut up into many pieces (at least 2), but cutting wax, again, is the devil. Pretty colors. Unique names. Nighttime. Are we into naps as adults? I don't know the etiquette.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #81: Vintage Chic Scents' High & Tight

When was the last time you got a haircut?
Mine was over a year ago.
I am a rebel. Without a cause. ;)
Vintage Chic Scents' High & Tight
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; smells like a barber shop. Shaving cream, new car leather, a slight sweetness, fresh faces. I can almost hear the stubble being shaved when this is melting! Verrrrry leathery. A bit too masculine for my liking. The shaving cream has a tangy note, like actual shaving cream does. Not for me, but others would like this. Throw was a solid medium, but the tart lasted 7 hours in a pleasant background scent. Gray coloring is not very used in the wax world, but it's a nice color, weirdly enough! One scent shot is the perfect amount not to have to cut. Lovely design aesthetic from this vendor, great packaging, haven't ordered in a while because I am not the biggest fan of stalking sites anymore. A really tremendous vendor!!

Lightning Round Review #26: Vintage Chic Scents Mash-Up, Part I!

I have been going Vintage Chic crazy and have been melting through my stash so I can order more. Today, I bring you some reviews, new and old! Do you like VCS? What's your favorite scent?!
Annabelle Doll - Cranberry Strawberry Pomegranate. (Created by Karee.)
Vintage Chic Scents' Annabelle Doll
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6.5/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; couldn't really smell anything I would describe as cranberry in this blend, but it was nice and fruity. I just wish it would have been stronger. Lasted 4.5 hours in the bathroom 2 different times as these leaf tarts are huuuuge. Her strawberry is one of my favorites!
Beverly Hills Hotel (strawberry, raspberry and guava) + Ziegfeld Follies (pomegranate and mulberry)
Vintage Chic Scents' Beverly Hills Follies
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6.5/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; another blend of a ton of scents that sort of drown each other out almost. It still smells good, but isn't all that strong. Sweet, fruity, but not much else. Medium throw, lasted 3 hours in the bathroom before I wanted something stronger. The strawberry and guava were the most noticeable of all the "ingredients."
Bluebird Cafe - Freshly picked strawberries
Vintage Chic Scents' Bluebird Cafe
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 8/10
Throw Rating: 8/10
Overall Rating: 8/10; such a wonderful and fruity sweet scent! This is nothing but strawberries but it is smashing, baby, yeah! Lovely, strong, lasted 6 hours in the bathroom, even for a 1 ounce scent shot! Always repurchase. This is so nice.
Bride of Frankenstein - Apple Blueberry Wedding Cake
Vintage Chic Scents' Bride of Frankenstein
Cold Rating: 5/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; usually I am not a fan of blueberry, but when mixed with cake and apple, it sort of didn't smell half bad while warming! It seemed like this one ouncer didn't throw as well as the leaf scent I had in this same fragrance, but it was still lasting, about 5-6 hours each time in the bathroom. Not bad! Cute name. Do yourself a favor and watch "Frankenstein," the original with Boris Karloff
Cape Cod was a favorite getaway for high society during the 1950s and 1960s, including John F. Kennedy. This scent, including salty sea spray, sea weather driftwood and a hint of water lily, is the perfect escape.
Vintage Chic Scents' Cape Cod
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; what a lovely combination of scents! I love sea salt scents, and the driftwood sort of overpowered in this blend, and it was pretty floral, so I would have liked to smell more of the salt. This was better than I expected while warming, though! Lasted 5.5 hours in the bathroom. Clean, fresh, lovely, will definitely repurchase.
Central Park Snow Globe - Peppermint Creme Noel
Vintage Chic Scents' Central Park Snow Globe
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10; a gift from the wonderful Jacqui at The Scholarly Nail, I LOVED THIS SCENT! It was so minty and creamy sweetness, but the blend was absolutely perfect. This was a huge snowflake shape and I melted the whole thing and I swear it lasted over 2 days. It got lower in throw, but it was still lasting! SO good. Yum. Always repurchase!
Charade - Pink Sands, Pink Chiffon, Cotton Candy
Vintage Chic Scents' Charade
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; oh. em. gee. My nose doth deceive me! Another scent where I thought it was going to be one thing but ended up being another. Uber perfumey because of the pink chiffon, but managed to get toned down by pink sands, which is weird because that's usually so strong. Good balance of those of these dupes mixed with a sweet cotton candy scent. So wonderful! You need to like perfumey smelling scents for this, IMO. Lasted 7 hours in the bathroom, and I had it going for 2 hours in the bedroom because I moved the warmer elsewhere. Repurchase!
Curse of the Bambino - Until they broke through with a World Series victory in 2004, the Boston Red Sox endured one of the greatest superstitions in sports history: the Curse of the Bambino, which dated to 1918, when the Red Sox made the foolhardy decision to trade Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Includes fresh grass and uplifting citrus.
Vintage Chic Scents' Curse of the Bambino
Cold Rating: 5.5/10
Lit Rating: 5/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 5.5/10; something in Curse of the Bambino was off to my nose. I thought I might like it, but no. The combination of a grassy scent and some sort of fruit was not for me at all. I only had it in the warmer about 2 hours before I dumped it out due to not liking it. I love the description, but didn't care for this. It still had a medium strength, though!
Deep Slumber - Pink Lavender Vanilla Honey
Vintage Chic Scents' Deep Slumber
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; pink sugar, lavender, vanilla and honey? What could go wrong? Well, nothing, but this was a bit more overwhelming that I expected, a bit more mature smelling. The honey definitely changed the "tone" of this scent. Not for worse, just differently. I enjoyed this, though, and the throw was about a mediumish. Lasted 12 hours in the bedroom 3 different times and now, it's gone!
Elvis in Hawaii - You'll be all shook up when you melt this tropical concoction of coconut leaves and Palm Beach Cooler. (Both are BBW types.)
Vintage Chic Scents' Elvis in Hawaii
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; very tropical but not as strong as I would have liked it to be. Nice and tropical and coconutty, but nothing special. Love these scent shots, though! Lasted 4 hours in the bathroom and I *might* repurchase it.

Swift & Supersonically Snappy Short Review #56: Vintage Chic Scents' Three Little Birds

I don't want to say I'm tired of late year scents yet, but I am now beginning to incorporate more springy wax in with it, slowly putting winter on the back burner.
Three Little Birds: Strawberry Daquiri and Orange Pina Colada.

Vintage Chic Scents' Three Little Birds
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10; brilliant mix of sweet and fragrant pineapple and coconut, medium amounts of orange and little wiffs of strawberry. Not any alcohol or fizziness in this, which I assumed would be the case. Such a luscious and semi-tropical scent. Pina colada scent the heaviest in this. Lasted 8.5 hours in the bathroom at an uber strong strength. Could smell this in the bedroom when the door was opened. Excellent scent names, themes and scent descriptions from this vendor. One of my top 10, if not top 5 vendors. Gaw-geous and ginormous rose shapes. Two-tones colors. Two melts from each big rose. Thinking about sipping tropical drinks on a beach somewhere. Daydreamin'. Light pink slowly moving up as one of my favorite scents.

Lightning Round Reviews #25: Holiday Melts Part I!

Since Christmas has only just scooted along by us, please enjoy my reviews of some recent holiday melts!
(no scent description available)
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Autumn Leaves
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 7/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; sort of perfumey, not at all like Leaves (dupe), but much more earthy and pungent. Not my favorite scent, but it's not terrible. Decent throw, lasted 5.5 hours in the bathroom! Not a repurchase, though.
Bonfire Bliss~A fragrance reminiscent of gentle, dusky breezes and bonfires, with notes of dried, wind-blown leaves, heliotrope, charred woods of pine and cedar, amber, smoky sandalwood, and musk with a background containing hints of roasted marshmallows, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla. This is a fascinating, complex, unique and appealing scent.
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Bonfire Bliss
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; what a complex scent description! I hink it shows because there are a lot of things going on here. There's the gooey marshmallow, sweet and creamy, but then another sweetness, perhaps a sugar note, plus the fire scent and then a very woodsy non-fire type of scent, I'm assuming it's the amber/sandalwood/charred woods of pine and cedar. Very intriguing indeed. Lasted 7 hours in the bedroom, Repurchase!
Frosted Pumpkin Cupcakes~ *Sugar & Spice Exclusive Blend!*Blend of Frosted Pumpkin, Birthday cake and Buttercream Frosting....yummy!
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Frosted Pumpkin Cupcakes
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 8.5/10
Throw Rating: 8/10
Overall Rating: 7.5/10; yummy is the right word here. Sweet, cakey, buttercreamy, very delectable. I wanted to lick the air. Also had a strange more than cakey bread note, though, but maybe it was just me. Lasted 6 hours in the bathroom! Perhaps a repurchase.
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Mac Apple Leaves Marshmallow Noel
Cold Rating: 9/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 10/10
Overall Rating: 9/10; insane how strong her blends are! MMMMM! The mac apple is bright and a little bit overwhelming in a good way, the leaves adds some much needed earthiness and crispiness, and the marshmallow noel sweetens the whole deal. INCREDIBLE! Many times repurchase!!! Lasted all freaking day in the bedroom, about 16 hours. Could smell this outside the house.
Sugar & Spice Gourmet Soy's Mulled Cider/Leaves
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 9/10
Throw Rating: 8.5/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10; what can I say that hasn't already been said about S&S...Shanna takes the time to blend her wax to its utmost potency. This is another wonderful blend, but it's missing that marshmallow sweetness and instead. replaced it with more apple and tons of spice. Good! Lasted all day, again, in the bedroom, about 16 hours. I am in love with S&S. REPURCHASE!
Bubbling Butter Brew - My interpretation of Harry Potter's Butter Beer. Sweet clotted cream, salted caramel, rich butterscotch, and a touch of bubbling cream soda.
The Bathing Garden's Bubbling Butter Brew
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; HARRY POTTER!!!!!!! I am much more accepting of all scents, now, and this wasn't half bad. Not fully sweet, not fully buttery, more creamy and butterscotch-like than anything. Really nice if you need something different for a change. Lasted 3 hours in the bathroom. Not a repurchase for me.
Old Time Holiday Shoppe - bubbling cranberry fizz layered with lemon curd.
The Bathing Garden's Old Time Holiday Shoppe
Cold Rating: 6.5/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; very fizzy and sweet, but not TBG's typical lemon curd to me. Much sweeter. Fizziness is nice, if you like that sort of thing. Lasted 4-5 hours in the bathroom and I think I melted all 6 cubes at once on this one (which I don't recommend. The less, the better.) and though I lover her decorations and touches on top, I am over the sugar crystals on her wax. They are such a royal pain in the ass to remove from pouring while hot. Not a repurchase,
Sugar Candy Wreath - sugar, cotton candy, eucalyptus, evergreen, plums, cherries, oranges and strawberries
The Bathing Garden's Sugar Candy Wreath
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 7/10; mainly a very sweet fruity smell with wisps of eucalyptus/evergreen notes. Nice, but needed to be stronger. Pretty tree-y sometimes. Lasted 4 hours two separate times in the bathroom. Possible repurchase.
(no scent description available)
Thirty Street Wax's Battle of Wits
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 5/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; a free sample from my order that lasted 5 hours in the bathroom. This smelled like spicy caramel cake on cold sniff, but while warming, something came out in this melt that I didn't like at all. Overly buttery to me. Not one I'd purchase for me.
Grandpa's Mug - Rum, maple, warm butter, vanilla, caramelized sugar
Thirty Street Wax's Grandpa's Mug
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 8/10
Overall Rating: 7/10; not my typical favorite kind of scent, but I was feeling adventurous. Wonderful on cold sniff, more buttery on warm sniff. Caramel has a tendency to go south fast, and while this isn't my favorite scent, it was okay. Lasted 5ish hours. Glitter still all over my warmer a month later. :P
Mrs. Frost – Cinnamon with hints of candy cane (A Tiffany Candles Blend)
Tiffany Candles' Mrs. Frost
Cold Rating: 6/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6.5/10; a nice sweet cinnamon scent. Lasted 5-6 hours in the bathroom. Medium throw. Nothing special, but still nice. Cute name!
Pink Sugar + Rosemary Mint
Tiffany Candles' Pink Sugar & Rosemary Mint
Cold Rating: 10/10
Lit Rating: 10/10
Throw Rating: 10/10
Overall Rating: 10/10; amazing scent! Perfect blend of pink sugar and herbal rosemary mint! Unique blend in her rosemary mint, sort of medicinal, sort of sweet. Very pretty. Love melting this. Wonderful chunklets! Throw improved with this wax blend. So good. Potential to stain warmer with her other pink blends!
Up The Creek Scents' Spiced Cranberry Oranges
Cold Rating: 8/10
Lit Rating: 7.5/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 7/10; a perfect blend of sweet yet tart cranberry and oranges, plus a hefty dose of cinnamon spice. So nice. Cute imprints in the wax.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving - Sweet Potato Pie, Toasted Marshmallow, Sugar Cookies and Caramel Cupcakes. Created by Caroline M.
Vintage Chic Scents' A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 4/10
Throw Rating: 6.5/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; this smelled incredible for the first 30 minutes, but when it got into the first hour mark, it started to smell disgusting to my nose. Most people would like this because it's a bakery/rich/caramelly scent, but to me, it smelled like gross curdled milk plus caramel sweetness. Yikes. Sorry, Kirby, this wasn't for me! Good medium throw, though, but something in there was just....eesh!
Vintage Chic Scents' Elm Street
Cold Rating: 5/10
Lit Rating: 6/10
Throw Rating: 6/10
Overall Rating: 6/10; this is a special exclusive blend between VCS and Tiffany Candles. It smells mostly bakery to me with maybe a little touch of spice. It was okay, but nothing special to me. Bakery fans will like this one.
The Great Pumpkin - Pumpkin Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. (Created by Gina.)
Vintage Chic Scents' The Great Pumpkin
Cold Rating: 7/10
Lit Rating: 7/10
Throw Rating: 7.5/10
Overall Rating: 7/10; you can really smell the cream cheese in this one! Yum! The pumpkin is there, but it's sweet and not super spicy to my nose. I would have liked a bit more spice to this. Lasted 6 hours in the bathroom 2 times, each half of the leaf. I would repurchase this.

HAPPY NEW YEAR (COMING SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haul: Vintage Chic Scents November Haul!

Vintage Chic Scents has slowly risen many, many notches on my favorite vendor list in a short time. Kirby is the owner and many of you know her from her days on YouTube. She has such a wonderful blend of scents, a vast scent list,  as well as excellent customer service and some of the best themes and packaging in the wax game. Lately she has been doing unannounced restocks but within a specific time frame (so, between 10 am and 4 pm CST on restock day). As long as you have your wish list filled out and have a quick trigger finger, ordering from her shouldn't be difficult. Let's explore my November haul, shall we?
Her very chic business card. One of my favs!
DOILIES!!! CHRISTMAS DOILIES!!!
* Bluebird Cafe - Freshly picked strawberries.
Kirby sent me two samples. To my knowledge, she's not letting customers pick their samples anymore, which is probably better for her. The first is Bluebird Cafe, which smells sweet and fabulous. I have a feeling I will melt this in the bedroom. It is quite nice alone, but might be even better when added with her marshmallow scents.
* The Grinch - Cranberry Mulberry Orange Moscato
I actually ordered a 3-pack of this scent, so scroll down for more on this one.
The size difference between the gigantic poinsettia tarts, her flower tarts, and her 1 ounce samples.
* It’s a Wonderful Life - Comforting warm spices including clove, nutmeg and cinnamon
The first thing I wanted to make sure I ordered was her Christmas Films sampler. Each and every scent in the sampler sounded amazing, something that is rare for a pre-made combination of tarts. It's a Wonderful Life smells wonderful, how can you go wrong with nutmeg, cinnamon and clove? There is a little something in this tart that is strange to my nose, but I'm sure it'll go away while melting!
* Holiday Inn - Holiday wassail drink filled with mulled apple cider, cranberry orange and cozy spices
Here we come a'wassailin'! Holiday Inn is lovely as well, a splendid melange of spices, apples and slight orange and cranberry. I have cut these huge flowers into 4 pieces and have already melted one part of this. Yum! It has a medium strength in the bathroom.
* Miracle on 34th Street - Cranberry Apple Pear (this scent is somewhat clean)
This one definitely does smell clean, but the fruitiness is nice, too. I don't mind tarts that are a combination of fruity and clean. I mainly get apple and cranberry from this scent, and the pear seems minimal on cold sniff.
* Meet Me in St. Louis - Warm vanilla and brown sugar with figs swirled with glistening snow
This one could very well be a dupe for B&BW's Brown Sugar & Fig, but I'm not too sure it's exact. There is a note to this that my nose doesn't like, but I will melt it anyway! It still smells good until you sniff good and hard down deep into the scent. Does that make any sense or does it just sound pervy?
* The Addams Family - Leaves (BBW Type)
Leaves is one of my favorite candles from B&BW. This smells a bit different, but at its core, it still has all the same components of the candle. Maybe it's not crispy and crunchy enough (like leaves)? I don't know, but I still think it will be okay!
* Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde - Tangerine, Cranberry and Cotton Candy Frosting
Apparently I was on a cranberry kick when I ordered from VCS this day? Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde smells sweet, sassy and fun. Cotton candy frosting is such a wonderful scent, rich and candy-like at the same time. I might melt this today, even! (And I did and it was wonderful, but medium strength)
* The Grinch - Cranberry Mulberry Orange Moscato
The Grinch is a bright and bubbly fruit mix! Very strong on cold sniff. I don't get much mulberry from this, though, but it's still nice and sweet. It makes me want champagne, stat.
* Central Park Snow Globe - Peppermint Creme Noel
Peppermint and vanilla bean noel? Uhh, YEAH! This is a bit light on cold sniff, but what I do smell is still creamy with hints of peppermint. Yum. I can melt this in the bathroom and the bedroom at the same time since I got 2 packs!
* Ebenezer - Icy Peppermint and Crisp Pine
The peppermint in Ebenezer is wonderful, very crisp and mixes well with the pine, which is there, but isn't overly in your face. Love this one!
* A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving - Sweet Potato Pie, Toasted Marshmallow, Sugar Cookies and Caramel Cupcakes
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is one of my favorite cartoons, it's hilarious and classic! When I saw this scent, I had to have it on name alone. Unfortunately, it's a mix of scents I typically avoid, just my luck, lol. Her marshmallow scent is amazing, though, so this started out just wonderful when I melted it, but faltered from there, and it's only because of me and scents I dislike. I'd give this a 6/10.

And there's my late November Vintage Chic Scents haul! Have you ordered from this company? Do you like it? What's your favorite scent from VCS?
