The box.
First look.
August 2015 guide booklet.
The fruity pie in apricot and almond from I Love Snacking was okay, nothing special. It's basically combined apricot mush and almonds. The texture was weird and we hardly tasted any of the almond in this. You really have to love apricots for this, and since we're only so-so on them, when combined with the said texture and rather unimaginative product, we weren't impressed. 2/5.
Beyond a brief burst of mild lemon scent when opening the cap, the Lemon Rooibos iced herbal tea powder from Stash was a bust for me. There is an even more, barely recognizable lemon flavor in this, but I prefer the flavor packets from last month's box to this, those were insanely juicy and very tart. This had no tea flavor whatsoever. In fact, if it weren't for the brown color, you'd barely know it was tea. 1.5/5.
Sesame....cranberry....peanut butter??? Weird combination of ingredients! Fortunately, this was excellent. Nutty, slightly sweet, and very sesame-y, I loved this product. Josh didn't try it, but I'd love to see what other bizarre combinations Wild Friends has in store for us, Definite repurchase, love the squeezy pack, too! 4/5.
It's rare that we eat Indian food in our house, but when we do, we always get tons of naan. It's one of the best things out there. These naan crisps by Stonefire were pretty bland, but not awful. The lack of flavor was okay because they were crisp, tasty, and really good! 3.5/5, would love to see a variety of flavors offered by this company!
Go Organic sent a full sized back of apple flavored organic hard candies! I would have preferred a different flavor, but beggars can't be choosers. These are pretty good, very appley, and they have to be since it's the only flavor in the candy, lol. You have to be in the mood for these and really like the taste of apple. 3/5.
Who the hell has heard of a broad bean? Hmmm..roasted broad beans. Another weird thing in a box this month. Anyways, these are shaped like little ears and pack quite a hefty crunch, but unfortunately, the roasted garlic flavor was very artificial and I didn't care for it at all. The bean gets a 3.5/5, but the flavor here gets a 2/5.
479 Degrees included a bag of Asiago, Parmesan and Cheddar artisan popcorn, and with ingredients like that, you'd expect this to be bursting the flavor, right? WRONG. This was gross, bland, and boring. No salt, no flavor, just ugh. 1/5.
We found out about Kind products a few months ago and have been obsessed ever since. I love quinoa in anything, and this salted caramel popped bar was delicious. Sweet, filling, crunchy goodness filled with ingredients you can pronounce. 5/5.

Overall, there were a few winners in this box, but a lot of losers. Oh well, they can't all be great, and this box has been consistently better than Treatsie! See anything you like in here?
I love the Kind bars too. Expensive but totally worth it. Broad beans?! I need to try those! Maybe in a different flavor though.
ReplyDeleteYou should try these, they are very odd but uniquely good!
DeleteI've been eating Luna bars for a year now and love them. I have one on my first break every day that I work. I don't think I've tried Kind bars.
ReplyDeleteI'm not adventurous enough to try these foodie boxes so I'll just sit back and enjoy them by seeing what you get. Will you keep going with this box?

The Kind bars say they have ingredients you can pronounce and spell and nothing more. They LOOK healthy, as opposed to some of the other ones that look like bricks covered in yogurt or chocolate. The Luna bars are also real good! The foodie box is great because it's only $10 and you get a wide variety of stuff. I will definitely keep this one going!!
