Review: White Barn's Leaves 1.3 oz Mini Candle

After the disastrous Macintosh Spice incident, I wasn't sure I'd ever find an apple-scented candle that didn't smell artificial.
Since that post, I've been into a few shops looking for the perfect apple spice scent. There have been a few hits, way too many misses, and I just haven't been able to justify spending money (even as little as $2.50 for a mini candle!) if my nose was simply playing tricks on me again. I can't stand another heartbreak, schnoz, I just can't...

I think I have found the very thing I was looking for.

My grandma and I were spending the day together yesterday while her car was being serviced. We stopped into a nearby Bath & Body Works to browse the Fall candle selection. I smelled around, as did she, and eventually settled on Leaves and Marshmallow Fireside.

Oh. My. Gosh.
Leaves is the quintessential fall fragrance, everyone. Unlit, this candle smells like a dream. Between the fresh smell of red, luscious apples, the sweet scent of nectar and fruity berries, and a lingering of cinnamon spice, lighting this candle, even in its mini form, makes me feel as if I am walking through an orchard, with leaves crunching beneath my every step. This is the fall I've been searching for. The throw is mild on the mini 1.3oz size, and I have a hunch that it'll be much more powerful in a larger version. It's hard to make a large bedroom very fragrance using just a mini, but the smell definitely is there!

Rumor has it that Bath & Body Works will be having a 2 for $20 sale on their 3-wick candles starting tomorrow, but wait until they send out an email because they are still full-price online. This is a MUST HAVE for fall and winter, you will not be disappointed (I'm still slightly bitter about the Macintosh Spice).

  2. Same here! Have you ever purchased during a 2/20 sale? Can you buy more than 2?! What are your favorite Slatkin fall/winter scents?

  3. You can by more than 2...but I think it has to be in integers of 2 (example: would have to get 4 candles, not 3 or two of them will be $10 and the other will be $20)...at least that's how my store did it! But I almost always buy 4 at this sale (2 for me, 2 for presents :))

I really like Salted Caramel (Really strong!!, but is White Barn this year), Caramel Apple (not sure if this one came back), and Autumn Apple (I think Cider Lane replaced this. I do really want a large of French Baguette though!

And my husband loves fresh scents, so I may have to check out Leaves.

I think I may avoid White Barn and just get Slatkin since I know the quality will be good!

  4. If I was a thinkin' person, I would have picked up a Slatkin AND a White Barn Leaves, since I exchanged two of the four I purchased...d'oh! :)

Cider Lane didn't smell nearly as cinnamony to me as I thought it would. Most of the scents smelled too sweet!

  5. I went in to BBW today, and maybe it was because I was exhausted, but nothing really jumped out at me! And I think Cinnamon Sugared Donut smelled different :( Also, Leaves must have been sold out, because the coldest I could find was Autumn Day (I think that's the name), but I didn't like it enough to buy it. Also, none of the French line up was left! Looks like some one went to town at my BBW!!!

  6. Oh, Cinnamon Sugared Donut is an older scent?! It sure didn't smell that great this year. The sale ends tonight, did you think about buying them online, or are you just going to wait until the next 2/20!?

Also, have to tried any other kinds of candles/tarts from online stores, places like The Bathing Garden, Kim's Tarts, Candles by Victoria, etc? If so, do you have any recommendations as to which are good? A lot of people on the Yankee facebook page and YouTube talk about these places having awesome stuff!
