Two questions this month in celebration of Thanksgiving. We would love to know your answers to these questions too.
1. What does your Thanksgiving Day spread look like?
Turkey, of course! We have done both oven cooked and smoked, but one year, my grandpa even made a fried turkey as a tasty (and fast) indulgence! Gotta have a turkey, whether smoked or not. I usually make mac and cheese since my mom and brother are vegetarians. They also have Quorn or Tofurkey for themselves. My grandma makes pie (usually pumpkin plus either apple or pecan) and her famous mashed potatoes chock full of garlicky goodness. There is some stuffing or stuffing balls, sometimes gravy, Kin'g Hawaiian rolls with butter on the side, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce (the jelly kind is my fav), tons of drinks and as always, my famous pumpkin roll! We pack in the people as we pack on the pounds...mmmm, I can almost taste it!
2. In what Thanksgiving traditions does your family participate?
As far as traditions go, for Thanksgiving, we don't have many that I can think of off the top of my head. I'd like to say we go around and say what we're thankful for, but sometimes, there are too many people to get to everyone! Togetherness is key, whether it's right before, during, or after Thanksgiving, and if something happens that we can't get together, we always have Christmas! Mainly our traditions are food related (having a pumpkin pie, having King's Hawaiian rolls, etc).
Deb over at It's Always Something has the envious position of being able to visit the Rosegirl's Boutique. She did a pop over very recently and hauled some delicious smells.
LoLo Loves Scents melted a PERFECT 10 scent last week and we all know a 10 out of 10 wax tart does not come around often.... you might want to read about it so you don't miss out on this gem.
Sunnee at Fragrance Obsessed has had the pleasure of trying an up and coming new vendor with nice results. You have to see these gorgeous tarts; the shapes and colors are eye candy.
The Redolent Mermaid has started a new vendor interview series, see what great idea the owner of Vintage Chic Scents has come up with regarding the wax community.
Mmmmm smoked turkey! I love that everyone brings dishes too. My sister Heather makes a killer broccoli and cheese casserole. I need to adopt your King's Hawaiian rolls tradition. Those things are jam up and it will save me some time.
ReplyDeleteBroccoli and cheese casserole sounds good on Turkey day! Can you give me her recipe if she has one?? The King's rolls do save lots of time while cooking the more essential, important ones.
DeleteI'm hungry. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to try a fried turkey one of these years and I'm so interested in your stuffing balls. Do you prefer the balls over traditional? I gotta know!
