Movie Review, Day 26: "Free The Mind"

Day 26
Movie: "Free The Mind"
Ticket Price: $6.00
Showtime: 11:00 am
Rating:  NR
Running Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes
This documentary is about how soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD were asked to be part of a breathing and meditation trial to lessen their need for medication. Many of the soldiers in this documentary either saw people in their battalions get killed or were interrogators themselves (and did horrible things from which they could not escape). Another part of the movie focused on a foster child who had a bad experience in an elevator, and using breathing to get him to overcome his fears.

As far as documentaries go, this one was sort of interesting yet pretty boring. The meditation and breathing practices seemed to work for most of the participants. This movie dragged on, even though it was only 80 minutes long. It was pretty preachy, too. Not our favorite documentary ever.

My Rating: 5.5/10
Josh's Rating: 5/10
IMDB's Rating: 7.2/10
Do we recommend the film: 50/50 yes and no.

  1. Never heard of this one, and I guess that's alright because it does not interest me at all. hehe
