Review: Streetman Seasoning's Exorcised (Off Topic Tuesday)

Being from San Diego, we love our Mexican food in America's Finest City.
There's a taco joint on ever street corner, or so it seems.
If it doesn't end in "-BERTO'S" (IE: Alberto's, Rigoberto's, Juanberto's, Roberto's, Royberto's, Rayberto's, and El Indio [SEE WHAT I DID THERE???]), then I don't want to eat there.*

Enter Streetman Seasonings.
When Heather from Streetman Candle Co. announced that her husband Tony would be selling their own taco seasoning, I just about died and went to heaven!
When she said it would be featured in the May Simply Sensational Sampler box, I was ridiculously excited.
*to the tune of "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon*
(not super attractive, but you get the point)
Here are the steps.
1) Brown meat (we used ground turkey for our dinner).
2) Add oil, red wine vinegar, and balsamic vinegar (instructions on the package).
3) Mix and add seasoning packet, mix again.
4) Enjoy, wait for mouth to fall off from hotness.
WOW is all I have to say. This is the medium version of their seasoning and Josh (read WE because I don't want to admit it kicked my butt) were basically dying from the heat. I can take it, but poor Josh was on his third drink before he went for his second taco.

It was fantastic, though. The flavors melded together so well, and I would have NEVER thought to put red wine and balsamic vinegars in tacos! This seasoning includes both habanero AND red pepper flakes, which is where the heat comes from. On my tacos, I only added cheese and sour cream. Josh added onion and lettuce.

Would I buy this? Absolutely. Am I tough enough to try The Gates of Hell, which includes GHOST peppers (1,000,000 scoville units of face and lip burning amazement)? No, no I am not. However, if you're planning on buying from Streetman Candle Co. and want to try this (or their spicy onion dip, which sounds equally as fabulous), try it. I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially if you like spicy food! :)

* = not factually accurate, I will eat at any and every Mexican food joint in town. :)

  1. Wow, I must try this!!! Heather's a genius.

    1. Yes, try it! I'd love to hear what you think, and if you think it's spicy!

If you only buy a few packets, I believe she refunds shipping!

  2. I'm trying this! your finished tacos look just as good as any 'bertos!

    1. It really is good, but our tacos are no where NEAR the 'bertos! LOL!
