Movie Review, Day 14: "This Is The End"

Day 14
Movie: "This Is The End"
Ticket Price: $11.00
Showtime: 9:45 pm
Rating: R
Running Time: 1 hours, 47 minutes
"The Apocalypse is nigh."

Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, and Craig Robinson are trapped in James Franco's house after a crazy party when the world beings to end. The friends must lean on one another to stay alive.

Another movie with something for everyone. In my opinion, this movie was outrageously hysterical. There are TONS of celebrity cameos throughout, which lead to some hilarious encounters. If gigantic demon, erm, "members" don't both you, then you're good to go. This movie contains strong sexual content, potty humor, violence, gore, and is definitely a "hard-R." If you've seen one or more of the following: "Pineapple Express," "Superbad," "Your Highness," "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Knocked Up," "The Watch," "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," "Fanboys," or "Grandma's Boy," you'll probably enjoy this.

The only low point was Danny McBride. He's annoying, simple as that. He's that guy (AND WE ALL KNOW ONE PERSON LIKE THIS) in every real-life scenario that crashes a party uninvited and acts like a selfish jerk while eating all the food and drinking all the good liquor. One guy behind us was particularly fond of Danny McBride and let everyone know it. Loudly. At least he wasn't on his cell phone like the girl next to us.

I have not been to a theater this crowded (a non-opening day showing) in forever. We were the second set of two people in the theater, and slowly, the masses started trickling in. Like, people sitting next to us shoulder to shoulder crowded. It was bonkers.

There's a cameo at the very end of the movie that I, in particular, enjoyed so thoroughly that I clapped. Let's just say, 90's boys band. :)

My Rating: 9/10
Josh's Rating: 9/10
IMDB's Rating: 8.1/10
Do we recommend the movie: If you're down with the descriptions laid out above, go for it. NOT for the faint of heart or the easily offended.

    1. DO IT! Seth Rogen has, for the most part, been able to keep the weight off, it seems. He is so skinny now! Jonah Hill lost a lot of weight but has gained some back.

By the way, theaters 1-4 at the AMC La Jolla have the recliners, not all theaters 1-12. Also, the box office attendant told us that once the remodel is done, they will be having a bar and 21+ theaters like Cinepolis...and ticket prices that go along with it (IE: jacked up prices!). NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! If you wanna try them out, they are reasonably cheap now. :/

  2. Commercials I've seen for this have looked very funny. Sometimes I like this type of movie and sometimes I just have no tolerance. I guess I'll find out when it comes around on pay per view or something. lol

    1. It's pretty funny, but the same crude humor jokes (like all their other movies) are definitely in tow. Proceed cautiously...there are a few scenes where I thought "Deb might not like this." LOL.
