Movie Review, Day 2: "The Hangover Part III"

Day 2
Movie: The Hangover 3
Ticket Price: $5.75 (early morning 2-D shows before noon are this price)
Showtime: 11:55 am
Rating: R
Running Time: 1 hours 50 minutes
Wolfpack, assemble! Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug (LOL IRRELEVANT) are back for the final (???) installment of "The Hangover" trilogy.

Another movie where we get to look at Bradley Cooper's dreamy blue eyes and too-perfect hair? SURE, why not?
(I contend his hair is full of secrets, that's why it's so ~*perfect~*)

The guys are on their way to Arizona after an intervention for Alan takes place. Their van is, all of a sudden, pushed off the road by thugs in pig masks. We find out Marshall, a "character" who was discussed in passing during the original "Hangover" film is looking for Leslie Chow; apparently, Chow stole $21 million dollars from him and he's not happy about it. Doug becomes "the insurance policy" and is kidnapped to ensure that the remaining Wolfpack members find and return Chow and the missing money. Hilarity ensues, good times are had, romance is abound, and c*caine. Lots and lots of c*caine.

Well, at least THIS "Hangover" installment had a different story line!

Were there funny moments? Yes.
Is this movie funny? Sure, some people might think it's funny.
Did I laugh more than I thought I would? Absolutely.
Will everyone like it? No, not at all. It's raucous, (less) raunchy (than the last two), filled with profanity, less nudity than the other two movies but still nudity, and that's just fine by me. We went in knowing we could see anything and came out reasonably impressed.
I always want something more with comedies and movies like this, but the change of pace from the regular "OHHHH BRAH, WHAT DID WE DO WHILES WE WEREs DRUNK!!???111" piecing together their craaaaazy nice story was mildly refreshing.

Stay for the after credits, that's one of the best parts.
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Justin Bartha (LOL NO), John Goodman, and Jeffery Tambor.

My rating: 6.5/10
Josh's rating: 6/10
IMDB rating: 6.3/10
Do we recommend this movie: If you're a fan of Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, the original "Hangover" movie, potty/raunchy humor, drug references, cursing, yes, we recommend it. NOT SAFE FOR KIDS!

  1. I've seen the first Hangover movie but not the second and have no interest in the third. I must really be getting old and 'soft' because wild and nasty movies just don't do it for me anymore.

Are the 2nd and 3rd just cashing in on the name? Or are they worth it in that there was some point to the story?

I used to *LOVE* Bradley Cooper.

    1. Deb, have you seen Silver Linings Playbook? My love for Mr. Cooper was rekindled after that movie. :)

    2. I haven't seen it yet. I want to but I keep putting it off because I'm pretty sure I'll end up crying (right?) and I haven't been in the mood for that yet. lol

    3. YES, absolutely, the second and third are definitely cashing in on the name. The second movie was a feeble attempts to be as crass, offensive, and lewd as humanly possible, and I didn't particularly care for it. It was basically the first movie except, instead of Vegas, they were in Bangkok, and instead of a tiger, they had a monkey. If you don't particularly care for these movies, skip the last 2.

Also, I'm not a huge Bradley Cooper fan, but his eyes are ridiculous.

    4. Also, yes, you should see "Silver Linings Playbook," it is great, but it's more of a rom-com with hints of darkness. You might not cry that much! It's a pretty good movie.

  2. I need to start going to movies earlier, the prices aren't bad at all!

    1. Definitely! The prices at the Mira Mesa theater (by where we used to live) were only a quarter more than the theater we go to now. Anything before noon, in most cases! So worth it!
