KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!

"Star Trek Into Darkness" is fantastic, let's start off with that.
The USS Enterprise faces many challenges in this movie, from the ones within themselves to the ones between former Starfleet agent John Harrison. After a terrorist attack on an archive building on Earth, Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the crew must follow suspect Harrison to an uninhabited area of the Klingon planet Kronos, and destroy him with big freakin' torpedoes. Their plan is subsequently derailed when they realize Harrison is more than they bargained for, AND IS ACTUALLY KHAN. Detection or misstep would send the Federation into war with the Klingons. Throughout the movie, there is a "war" between Kirk and Spock as well, pitting doing what they believe is right versus following orders and obeying rules.

Even as a non-watcher of Star Trek shows or movies (except for the new ones), I loved it because I love sci-fi and fantasy films. Josh, who grew up watching Star Trek TV shows AND movies loved it equally as much. Director J.J. Abrams even said in an interview with Jon Stewart that he made these movies with the intention of allowing everyone to see and enjoy them, not just hardcore Star Trek fans.

What caught my eye most of all in this film was Benedict Cumberbatch; he is a spectacular villain, albeit dramatic and stoney-eyed. He was the perfect Khan. He looks like a snake in real life. The story was great, the special effects were outrageously amazing, and I must admit, I teared up a bit towards the end. The friendship dynamic between Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) is one you truly feel and believe. Spock's dry sense of being as well as Simon Pegg's portrayal of Scotty also add quite a bit of much needed humor to this film.

I'm convinced that "our only hope" for the new Star Wars movie is J.J. Abrams.
It's going to be so wicked.

Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Anton Yelchin).

My Rating: 9.25/10
Josh's Rating: 10/10
IMDB Rating: 8.2/10
Do we recommend this movie: HIGHLY, even if you're not a Star Trek fan. It's got something for everyone and I really do think most people will enjoy it!

  1. Star Trek (movies, at least) is something I always tell myself I will go back and watch, get myself caught up. And it never happens. I'm pretty sure we have a bunch of the movies because hubby likes them, so it wouldn't be hard for me to just sit down and start. And yet I never do.

I'm the same with X-men and Star Wars. Although, I did see the original Star Wars in the theater when it first came out. That tells you how old I am. LOL

    1. This one is definitely worth viewing. You don't really need to have watched the TV shows or other movies at all, maybe just pay-per-view it when it comes out! It really is!

My mom saw Star Wars in the theater, that should tell you how old SHE is! :P
