Haul: My Very First (Purchased) Destash!

A couple of weeks ago, I started following someone on Facebook who does wax destashes quite frequently. If you were like me, up until I added this person, I had no idea what a destash was, so let me break it down!

Basically, if you accumulate extra wax and want to make some extra moolah, you can put it into a box and DESTASH IT!! Trust me, someone, somewhere, will want your wax, it's inevitable!

Anywho, I just told this person what types of vendors I wanted to try, and they filled up a flat-rate padded envelope and sent it to me! The only thing I will note is that there were no photos going into this, I was relying on blind faith alone. Here are some pictures!
The first vendor I've been itching to try was Candles by Victoria. Dewberry was definitely not my cup of tea, but Crackling Birch was amazing. Look for reviews of these two scents in the upcoming weekend wax review!
Another vendor with a lot of hype around it is Victoria's Designer Creations. I've heard a lot about her scents being super, super strong, as well as quite marvelous. Looking forward to trying out these scents!
Ahhhh, Candles from the Keeping Room. I told the destashor/destasher/destash-man/woman if there was any extra room to throw in anything by CFTKR. Well, they picked well, because I've never tried these scents! YAY! (I have a sample of Berry Sorbet that I haven't melted yet).
The two on the left are Sniff My Tarts, and we all know how Coffee Bean smelled...YUCK! I don't even want to think of it since the smell is FINALLY out of the house. The two on the right are Pics, Petals & Scents in Root Beer and Hawaii Five O Cake. Both of these smell really good!
Here's a long-shot of the Sniff My Tarts ones, mostly coffee and chocolate scents. These are the least exciting for me, not a huge fan of coffee or chocolate scents. Oh well!

Have you ever done a destash? Would you do it again? It was a fun experience, that's for sure!
Do you think this is a good amount of wax for $24 shipped? 7 scent shots, 4 big chunks, 2 bags of 3 sticks of wax, and about 6 CFTKR cubes. Seems alright to me!

  1. Ohhhhh, looking forward to your reviews on these new scents! You got some good ones. I see the Bacon one from CBV and I think it's hilarious!

    1. Who would want to give away ANYTHING bacon!? LOL! It smells strikingly similar to real bacon...we shall see how it goes. I'm a little nervous to melt it!

  2. I had never heard of Destashing! I'm still taking my online vendors baby steps...but maybe this is the next step....I just can't let my husband see this; he probably thinks I need to destash!

    1. It sure beats throwing stuff away! I'm sure my husband is just really, reeeeeally nice about my mini-hoard, but just won't say anything! HA! If you ever want to try some stuff from particular places, let me know and I can put together a package for you! :)

  3. I don't do destash and I've not tried most of these vendors, so I'm of no help to you on those counts.

I went through a short CBV phase towards the end of 2011 but faded quickly for several reasons. I don't like the high flat rate shipping, it sucks for those who are new and only making small orders. I don't like having to cut tarts, so the 2 oz. cups are just not my favorite. The sheer number of scent options is overwhelming and then becomes redundant. And finally, the wax is so hard that I was having partial melts in my tea light warmers. I do love their mini jelly jar candles though!!

What is the fascination with those snap sticks lately? Is it just that you can break off how much you want?

    1. $9 for flat rate shipping is a bit steep...maybe she could decrease it by a couple bucks, especially when her prices are higher than other places with cheaper shipping and more/better sales. Speaking of the hard wax from CBV...mine were hard, too, but the wax like....INSTANTLY solidified when I went to pour it out. Usually it stays liquid for over a minute, but the second I took it off the warmer, it's like it knew and hardened quick. It was an awful mess!

What's your preferred method of wax, since you don't like scent shots/cups, sticks, melts, fluted, grubby? :)

Not sure about the snap sticks, but the ones pictures are fairly small. The ones from Streetman Candle are waaaaay bigger. I think the appeal like you said, using what you want without having to cut it, you can just break it up.

    2. I used to really love clamshell style tarts. These days I prefer single tarts, whether they are fluted or grubby. For some reason, I *love* the look of grubby tarts. If I find a scent I love in single form, I'll probably go back and order a clamshell or larger pack if the vendor has those options. Sometimes I get picky enough to do a price comparison but even if the cups come out cheaper per oz., I just don't prefer them.

  4. If you don't mind me asking, I'm new to wax. Which facebook vendor did you get the destash from? Thanks.

    1. Hi! I got this destash from the Facebook user here: https://www.facebook.com/scentimentally?fref=ts
This was not a vendor destash, but someone from their own private stash selling wax. It looks like they haven't done one in a while? If you join some of the wax groups on Facebook, you will see there are many, many destashes that happen! :)

Let me know if you need anything else! :)
