Christmas is near! CHRISTMAS IS NEAR!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!
...can you tell I'm excited? :) :)
I decorated the house while Josh was at work on Monday this week. It wasn't until then that I realize we don't have that many decorations; pretty much everything we have is for the Christmas tree! BAH HUMBUG! Time to look for more decorations!
If you read my Project Wax post the other day you'll know I've made a huge dent in my bag, though I keep adding things (even though I probably shouldn't because it'll never get done!).
Aside from all of the Kim's Tarts I melted this week (part 2 will come out tomorrow!), I have a big list from the weekend! Follow along...there's quite a bit, so I'll try to be as brief as possible!
I received this free sample in my last package from The Bathing Garden a couple of months ago. It was unmarked, but sure smelled like pumpkin pie! It was fabulous! It has a nice and spicy scent on cold and warm sniff, 7/10 each, and had an awesome throw, 8/10; it was great all around: 7.5/10 overall!
Josh picked out Red Berry & Cedar the other day, so I started to melt it before he got home from work so it would smell fabulous when he got home! I ended up melting the entire votive and it was STRONG yet light, if that makes any sense. This one has a great blend of sweet and tart berries and cedarwood wonder; it had a lightly fresh scent but a great throw. On cold sniff, 6.5/10. While melting, 6/10. Throw, 7/10. Overall, 6.5/10!
After Jamie's pineapple scent, I felt like I needed another sweet fragrance. I went with Front Porch's pink cotton candy...and this scent is now one of my favorites. I don't know how much pink I smelled, necessarily, because cotton candy is pure sugary goodness anyways, but it was almost like being at a carnival. In fact, I told Josh we should break out the olde timey popcorn maker our friend gave us for Christmas a few years ago and have a carnival party! The throw was spectacular, the scent was intoxicating. If you like super sugary scents (which I usually do not, but this was a welcomed surprise!), this will be right up your alley. On cold sniff, 8/10. While melting, 8.5/10. Throw, 8/10. Overall, 8/10! Just fabulous!
Back to another Project Wax tart! Ava's Country Cupboard is a fairly new vendor to me and I am not disappointed! We chose Sage & Cinnamon from my Project Wax bag on Thursday (I am including it here because we re-melted it last night)...and this tart lasted almost 2 whole days! It was an herbal cinnamon, which was a new experience for both of us. We liked the was this company combined two ingredients you wouldn't necessarily associate with one another together to create a long-lasting scent! And with $5.95 flat-rate shipping, could it get any better!? On cold sniff, 6/10. While melting, 7/10. Throw, 7/10. Overall, 7/10. Unexpected surprise!
This, however, was an unexpected disappointment. On cold throw, this scent was a fabulously fruity and exotic mix of mango papaya, pineapple, and coconut, but it wasn't strong, 5/10. Warm, however, this had barely any scent throw. For the first hour it was in the warmer, it hovered at a 4/10, then the scent was just...gone! I was so sad! The throw was 4/10, too, making this 4.5/10 overall, my first low Tiffany Candles review. BOOOOOOO! I must note: this is in the OLD WAX BLEND, so that might have something to do with it. The products I have burned in new wax blend have been a lot stronger. Unfortunately, I do not have this scent in the new wax blend! GAH!
I have searched high and low for a description of Dutch Candle's Autumn Forest, but alas, nothing. It was a nice fruit smell mixed with a pine/woodsy scent. Very gentle smelling, though, not overpowering like Kim's White Christmas (review coming tomorrow). Cold throw, 5.5/10. While melting, 6/10. Throw, 6/10. Overall, 6/10 (this was from the Simply Sensational box, so that could be why there was no description on their website).
Candles From The Keeping Room (CFTKR) amazes me with every passing tart. Carol's scents are spectacular, I don't know how she does it! CFTKR and Tiffany's are tied at the number one spot in my lil' tart heart. Amish Quilt is no exception! Her website description of this scent is: "Spicy, sweet, and complex. Vanilla intertwines with a spice cabinet of cinnamon, clove, allspice, kissed with sugar. Hints of nutmeg and fruits peak out from the heart notes. If you are not a fan of bakery scents, this is nowhere near the typical "bakery" realm, give it a try! Very unique and different." Ridiculously accurate. On cold sniff, 7/10. While warming, 8/10. Throw, 6/10. Overall, 7/10. Carol, you're amazing!
Finally, we have Streetman Candles' Strawberry Sugar, another Project Wax item, and another item from last month's Simply Sensational box. My only complaint about this scent is that IT WAS SO HARD TO GET IT OUT OF THE CUP! I had to BITE the plastic to get it out...my little scraper wouldn't even do the trick! This is great (I have it going right now), and I usually don't care for strawberry scents. On cold throw, 6/10. While melting, 7.5/10. Throw, 6.5/10. Overall, 6.5/10.
