Weekend Wax Review: December 27-30

Waking up on the morning of December 22nd, 3 days before my favorite day of the entire year, I felt that all too familiar itchy and scratchy rawness in the back of my throat...
"...oh no," I thought, "I'm going to be sick on Christmas..."
...yup.

...I'm fairly certain I've infected given my cold to every single person I've ever met, so, if I saw you in person this week and you're reading this now, I'm sorry in advance for giving you the plague.

Needless to say, I didn't melt ANYTHING until Thursday night, thus, the extra day in this weekend wax review.
So, Thursday night, I was digging through a bag of single wax tarts when I found Ollie's Soaps' Sinus Relief. DUH, why didn't I do Sinus Relief SOONER in my sickness?! This one was r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s-l-y STRONG! It really helped with my stuffy nose. In fact, it was a nice, soothing scent, with a bit of medicinal note underneath. On cold sniff, 7/10. While warming, 7/10. The throw was a 6.5/10, for a total of 7/10!
I got my Haley's Heavenly Scents order on Christmas eve, YAY for early waxages (this is what I call a package of wax...Josh thinks I'm nuts, but he says it now, too, HA!)! However, due to the cold, I could not smell anything until the weekend. Friday night, we melted Snow Angels, which was a nice creamy mint scent. I couldn't place what it was while melting, but it smelled like butter. Josh didn't smell the same thing, though, so I chalked it up to my sickness. I don't like to check scent descriptions until AFTER I pour out the wax, so I can see if my ol' sniffer is/was on the right track. Sure enough, this was a buttercream mint Yankee type. On cold sniff, 6/10. While warming, 6/10. The throw wasn't too strong, 5/10, for a total of 6/10.
Blur city up in this picture...but anywho, Tiffany Candles' Snickerdoodle was a sample I've been sitting on for a few months. I was feeling like a cookie scent this morning, so I popped it in. WOW, this one was very pleasant! I'm generally not a cookie type of gal, but this was really, really nice! There was a rich, buttery note mixed in with a cinnamon sugar. On cold sniff, barely anything, 4.5/10, just the faintest hint of cookie. While warming, 6.5/10. This is in the old wax blend, but it was surprisingly strong with a 6.5/10. Overall, 6/10, and I'd love to try this in the new wax blend!
Last, but certainly not least, we have Sniff My Tarts' Pink Coconut Vanilla Butter Fudge...man, oh man, this was simply amazing. Between the creaminess of the coconut, the butteriness of the fudge, and the sweetness of the pink sugar, this has got to be one of my top 10 scents of the year, it was that good. WOWZA. On cold sniff, 7.5/10. While warming, 9.5/10. It was strong, too, 9/10. Grand total is 9/10. If you get a chance to order from this company, TRY. THIS. SCENT. It's incredible how these ladies can blend fragrances together to creating something fantastic!!

Enjoy your week, everyone! :)

  1. Lol it looks like blogspot ate your Ollie's Sinus Relief review :P
I'm still giggling about your RDJ post.
I'm hoping you feel better! I've recently gotten into the wax craze as well, and I've been looking for more to blog about... and reading everyone's blogs has re-inspired me for the billionth time.

You should really do a post showing how you store your collection. I love getting ideas from other people's storage methods!

    1. LOL, I totally jumped the gun when submitting! ;)
I'm glad people enjoyed my RDJ post...because he probably smells amazing and we don't think about that enough, you know?? :P

Hopefully, you start blogging more! I just started recording YouTube videos, but my love is writing, and I don't translate well on film, LOL.

I could definitely do a storage post, but it's nothing special! In fact, I'm sure Josh, my husband, hates me because I take up all the spare room with my wax!

What are your favorite vendors? :)

    2. Butting in here to say that yes, Furianna, you need to blog more. I just popped over to have a look at yours and I love all that purple. LOL! (Minnesota Vikings fan here!) But seriously though, I need more blogs to read. :)

    4. Are you kidding? Purple is my favorite color! I couldn't make that blog without there being purple EVERYWHERE!
So far I'm loving Tiffany Candles' new wax blend, Candles by Victoria, and Jmae's Soaps & Candles. It was actually a destash by Jamie that helped me stumble into the world of wax and wonders, and she's such a sweetheart I can't help but order from her time and time again.

    5. I really like Jamie and her products! She's really such a nice woman! Well, thanks to Jamie for getting you into the world of wax! Tiffany is opening her shop again on the 7th, are you planning on placing an order??

    6. Oh yeah! It'll be my first actual order from them (everything I own right now is from a destash)but from what I read the ordering process is really pleasant.
Do you have any suggestions on scents I should try out? I'm really open about what I'll try... the only thing I have an issue with is just plain apple scent. If it only smells like apple, I don't like it lol.

    1. The cold is almost gone! WOOT! I hope you get to try out some new winter candles, most are $10 on B&BW's website now for the Semi-Annual Sale! :D

I actually had a reeeeeeeeeeally long comment written for you about online vendors, but I put it in a separate blog post for tomorrow! That way other people can share their ideas about online vendors for you, as well! :D

    2. AWESOME! Thanks so much!

I think with 2013 it's time for me to try out some online and smaller business wax! :)

    3. YAY! The small businesses need love, too, and there are PLENTY of them out there that make fabulous products!

  3. I really do need to order some Sinus Relief tarts from somewhere. I really do. Really. I wonder if Sweet Fixations has any ... hmmm. I need to sneak one more order from anywhere in before my 2013 attempt at cracking down and cutting spending. LOL! (We'll see how THAT goes.)

I'm one to talk. LOL. Have you thought about doing a project wax box? It really tides you over until you can make another purchase, just leave it SOME PLACE NOTICEABLE! It works.....(????????) :P

    2. Nah, I'm not interested in Project Wax.

  4. I looooove Cranberry Woods! So good! I wonder if there's a dupe of this in tart form. Also, I am so close to placing an SMT order just based on your review of Pink Coconut Vanilla Butter Fudge. It sounds amazing. Pink Sugar? And coconut? And buttery vanilla? Yes, please!

    1. If you *are* going to place an order with SMT and you like serendipity, you MUST TRY serendipity marshmallow smoothie...OH EM GEE. It was soooo good, soooo strong, even Josh liked it! Wow...covered up the skunk smell right quick, too! ;)

If you ever find a dupe for Cranberry Woods, let me know! It's a really nice scent!

Also, if you're looking for chunks, Rosegirls is opening at some time tomorrow! They aren't advertising when they are opening (what time) because they got so overloaded last time the opened, this was better! :D
